Here
ia a set report with a few pics we got from EAST LOS for the upcoming
action film S.W.A.T., which stars Samuel L Jackson, Colin Farrell
and Michelle Rodriguez and is due out on August 8. Here is what
he had to say:
I work
in downtown L.A. and over the last couple weeks, they've been
working on the 6th street bridge which crosses over the Los Angeles
river between downtown and East L.A. Anyway, they have been putting
up extra lights on the bridge to light it up better. These lights
are every 20 feet or so and span the length of the bridge on either
side. It does look cool.
Well yesterday, I noticed a sign
had been posted that said SWAT. So at around 9:00 pm or so, they
started to block off access to the bridge. I had to run back to
work though, so I missed allot of the action, but I did manage
to catch a scene being shot.
Apparently, the DWP (Department
of Water and Power) has a road block set up on the west side of
the bridge. There is a DWP truck blocking two of five lanes, and
folding white and orange road signs blocking the others. So a
limo races through the barricade and speeds up to the center of
the bridge rising up and out of sight. Once the limo is out of
sight, a ton of automatic gun fire goes off on the center of the
bridge. I managed to see a couple burnt out hulls of what was
brand new GMC Denali trucks. I think this is what gets blown up
on top of the bridge.
As I was walking away, I noticed
inside one of the tents, a life size private plane.
Since I live on the other side
of the bridge, I had to take the long way home on 8th Street.
As I got to the other side, I saw an exact copy of the plane sitting
on the bridge. I ran home to grab my camera. They are a bit dark,
but I think you get the idea. On one of them, you can see the
burnt out Denali in the middle of the bridge.
Keep up the good work.
