In 1996 “Rent”, a musical inspired by Puccini’s classic opera “La Boheme” premiered on Broadway. Jonathan Larson, the creator of the piece tragically passed away of an aortic aneurysm the night before the play’s first preview at the New York Theatre Workshop. “Rent” went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Obie Award, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, four Tony Awards and three Drama Desk Awards.

He wasn’t this year’s Sexiest Man Alive, but George Clooney is still making a name for himself on the big screen. But in his latest film, Syriana, George isn’t looking too clean cut, sporting a full beard and mustache. CIA-op George takes on the oil industry and discovers a young high-powered American (Matt Damon) is dealing with a Pakistani prince. At the same time, a Washington lawyer merges two oil companies. George sat down with Latino Review to talk about the project.

Working with George Clooney seems to be common practice for Matt Damon. Syriana marks the third time the two actors have starred together. In the film, Matt essentially makes a ‘deal with the devil’ when he collaborates with a Middle Eastern prince on an oil deal. The political drama takes place in Washington DC and The Persian Gulf, but Matt was in New York to give us his take.

Latino Review was extended an invitation to visit the set of Nacho Libre, an upcoming film to star Jack Black and follow-up for Jared Hess, director of cult phenomenon Napoleon Dynamite. The story centers around the titular Nacho, an orphanage cook and priest in training who dons a secret identity as a luchador (Mexican wrestler) to raise money for the little ones. A man of the cloth by day, a fearless fighter by night, the story follows the birth of his legend.
