UPDATE: A Latin To Take On Medusa and the Kraken?

Reddit

By Kellvin Chavez on November 4, 2007

A while back it was reported that Screenwriting hero Lawrence Kasdan has been tapped to pen "Clash of the Titans" for Warner Bros. And that Travis Beacham ("Killing on Carnival Row") wrote a draft for the film.

Ever since that was reported there was no director attached.

Again the same and very close strong source that I would love to mention but I CAN NOT!

It’s actually the same source that told me about the STAR TREK TEASER TRAILER and every since I’ve posted that story some other sources have emailed me and confirmed the Star Trek teaser trailer scoop.

The source called me while watching the COLTS vs. PATRIOTS game, and told me that the folks over at Warner Bros. Pictures want to go with one director for the “CLASH OF THE TITIANS” and it’s a LATIN director.

According to the source “THE STUDIO WANTS ROBERT RODRIGUEZ TO DIRECT CLASH OF THE TITANS”

As a matter of fact Rodriquez was in talks to direct a live-action feature version of futuristic 1960s cartoon "THE JETSONS" for Warner Bros, but he had to choose between that film and “LAND OF THE LOST” with Will Ferrell for UNIVERSAL PICTURES and then he decided to helm the “BARBARELLA” redo for a 2008 release with Universal.

BARBARELLA is still waiting for the green light, whether it’s with Universal Pictures or another studio.  Film is having trouble movie forward due to budgets or other stories you might have heard.

NOW lets get some stuff straight right at this moment before my inbox is filled with hateorade e-mails.  Robert Rodriguez has not INKED THE DEAL; the studio just wants him and its up to him to say yes or no.

I actually think CLASH OF THE TITANS is a better redo idea than a BARBARELLA redo to be honest with you, it’s a better fit, but who the hell am I.

CLASH OF THE TITANS revolves around Zeus' son, Perseus, and his journey to save Princess Andromeda during which he must complete various tasks set out by Zeus, including capturing Pegasus and slaying Medusa. The original marked the final film on which Ray Harryhausen did special effects.

So on your mark get set GO! Start typing feverishly or dialing the phones to your contacts and say, “Is this true?” trying to get confirmation from reps, publicists or what not.

UPDATE: AICN was able to get in touch with Rodriguez directly and he confirmed that he was indeed looking seriously at it, but had to bow out because they wanted it to go pre-strike and Rodriguez has his own flicks he wants to move on before the actor's strike, so he picked his own projects.

WE WERE RIGHT AFTER ALL, THATS WHY I HAD IT CLEAR AND UNDERLINED "THE STUDIO WANTS HIM AND IT WAS UP TO HIM TO DECIDE"
