Bond Blows Away The Box Office Competition By George 'El Guapo' Roush on November 16, 2008 Everybody predicted it, and it was no surprise. Quantum of Solace raked in $70.4 million its opening weekend at the domestic box office, bringing its worldwide total to just over $231 million dollars. Daniel Craig proves he wasn't a one time fluke in the role and the Bond juggernaut looks to be stronger than ever. Congrats to everyone involved for keeping the franchise fresh and exciting as fans went in droves all over the world to go see it. Madagascar 2 did well despite the hit from Bond coming in second with a respectable $36.1 million bringing its two week worldwide total just north of $158 million. I'm pretty sure Dreamworks is happy about that, but it's going to face heavy competition from the excellent Bolt this weekend. The other films are starting to peter out. Zack & Miri made its money back (wasn't in question), Role Models staying steady in its 2nd week despite the heavy competition. It's a really funny movie, and I suggest you check it out while HSM 3 continues to dance it's way towards $100 million. Seriously, the whole draining blood to unlock the door thing I could have done without. Just give me chopped off heads for ninety minutes. That I can handle. So what did you guys think of Bond? Aside from those two things, which are over in the first few minutes of the movie, it rocked.
