Clint Feels Lucky, Coming In #1 Over The Box Office Weekend, You Punk.

By George 'El Guapo' Roush on January 11, 2009
Man, moving sucks. That's why my updates have been sparse today. Sorry to all of the NY Giant fans for their loss. I was pulling for 'em. At least the no good Chargers did what I thought they would do, which is lose. Enough football, let's talk movies!

Gran Torino opened up number one this weekend, finally releasing wide across the country with an impressive $29 million dollars. Clint once again proves that audiences would rather see awesome old school action heroes than the current crop of young Hollywood dopes.

Speaking of dopes, Kate Hudson's Bride Wars is neck and neck with The Unborn for second place. Both movies have over $21 million dollars with Bride Wars getting the slight edge by about $400,000 bucks. I'm actually not amazed that audiences would waste their money on such crap when the critics have spoken and universally panned both films. They're also tied in another area with just a 12% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Doesn't matter, both movies will drop off the face of the planet next week once word of mouth gets out.

Marley and Me continues to ignore the leash laws, running loose in theaters and barking up another $11.3 million. Congrats to Fox Studios on such a successful film. Marley has now grossed over $129 million worldwide. That's a lot of doggie treats for fat, balding studio executives.

Benjamin Button is continuing to bore audiences coming in 5th place with $9.4 million, closing in on $100 million. Bedtime Stories, Valkyrie, Yes man and Not Easily Broken round out the top nine, with Seven Pounds coming in 10th place, earning $3.9 million. Will Smith has given up on this movie and the rumor is his family not will allow his face to be put on the DVD cover because of the shame he has brought them and the entire Scientology community.

Next week we hit Sundance. Make sure you check daily and look for our day to day coverage of movies, interviews, and silly nonsense from the frozen tundra of Park City, Utah.
