I was sitting with El Guedo watching the new Saw stuff and we were not disappointed. The writers (Patrick Melton & Marcus Dunstan) of all 5 films came out along with Tobin Bell, Mr. Jigsaw himself, and talked about the challenges that are involved when you have a series like Saw that has become a Halloween tradition. New director David Hackl also was there talking about how after working on Saws 2, 3 and 4, he got a feel for how things operated. It also helped that the Saw crew stuck together through out the years making it easy to pick up right where they last off last. According to Hackl, even the “trap” maker, the man who made all the devious devices previously, is back to figure out how to drive people crazy!
Its seems that everyone involved in the Saw series, believes the story is far from being over due to the fact that there’s so many layers to Jigsaw. This statement alone all but guarantees assuming Saw geeks more films to jeer for.
Saw V Teaser!!
The first thing that happened wrong, giving us the indication that everyone was tired, was that a clip from the film was introduced only to turn out to be a teaser trailer. Regardless of when we were supposed to see the trailer, it made its point. It starts with a shot of a man with his head in a glass looking box. There are a few quick cuts then we hear Jigsaws voice says, “hello.” BAMM! The guy’s eyes shoot open and he begins struggling to set his head free, and then whoooooooosh!! The screen goes black! Weird stuff!
The crowd cheers and you can see satisfaction on everyone’s faces. The film makers then finish with a guarantee of sorts. They assure fans that they will keep the level of viciousness at an extremely high level in this and any other Saw films that might manifest.
Saw Clip!!
This one is simple but affective. Apparently there’s a guy that’s chained down to a cement slab, with an iron collar holding his head down as well as some device on the feet. He’s laying on a cement slab that has the middle cut out so if you were lying on it and you hunched backwards…you could potentially fall through the middle backwards! Moving on….. this guy is some sort of criminal or something, because Jigsaw makes him an offer. He has a minute to either allow the pendulum to slice his body in two…..or stick each hand into a device that will crush and render his hands useless because…..this might be a spoiler…..he’s used his hands to commit evil and now must sacrifice them in order to save his life!! I think I’ll stop there, but one award his film will never own is teaching people morals!
All in all it looks like usual business and carnage for Saw V.
