During a preview visit for the latest D.J. Caruso thriller Eagle Eye (Saw the first 35 minutes and it looks like a lot of fun. Just balls to the wall action. I'll have a report later.) D.J. was asked by Robert at IESB (see? I give props.) if a big screen adaptation for Y The Last Man was going to happen.
"It's probably going to happen. What happened is New Line is now a part of Warner Brothers and so Warner Brothers is very high on the project and Carl Ellsworth will probably deliver the script to Warner Bros/New Line next week."
With talk of it being a trilogy:
"I see it as being a trilogy. I definitely see it as a trilogy. I see the first movie ending where you pick up after the incident, you're picking up about six weeks later. Meeting Yorick about six weeks later after the incident and sort of progressing down, I think it's about only a five or six week journey from that point on."
When would he like to start?
"In a perfect world, and I've talked to Shia (LaBeouf) about this because he really wants to do this as well, I would like to start prepping this movie in October and start shooting it by January. Looking for sometime in 2010."
There you have it. I have yet to read the series, but I hear it's excellent so I'll have to pick them up during Comic-Con this week and check it all out!
