Diesel Wants to Do Doctor Doom By Genevieve M. Blaber "ScarletScribe" on April 03, 2009 When you think Vin Diesel, you think badass, so it’s no surprise that he’s been hesitant to jump on the ready-made superhero bandwagon as comic after comic gets the big-screen treatment. But that may be changing according to his latest interview with MTV News. Diesel, who once came oh-so-close to playing Hellboy and Daredevil, confessed that he did have a superhero he was interested in and it may not be who you expect. “I talked to [‘The Surrogates director] Jonathan Mostow about ‘Sub-Mariner,’ which could be interesting because of its World War II-New York connection.” Nice, but I’m not sure I’m ready to see Diesel kicking ass with only a trident and green spandex briefs to cover his. Fortunately for us (OK, mostly me who doesn’t like that spandex idea), Diesel still has his eyes on more well-dressed parts. “I would be more apt to play a villain,” said Diesel. “[I’d like to play] the protagonist of a story that is also like a Marvel villain – like Doctor Doom or something.” And considering all the talk going around about a darker, grittier Fantastic Four reboot, that could just happen. So which would you rather see? Wet and mostly naked Sub-Mariner Vin, or completely clothed Diesel Doctor Doom? I'm quite positive you'll fit in, and I support your future articles. Jamie has had the best comment to this whole article. Vin's baby when it comes to characters is Riddick. He's the one who strongly pushed for the Chronicles to be made, and now he's pushing for two more sequels. He obviously loves this character and knows the success he will receive from the films. Pitch Black was a knock out, and I'm glad to hear that Vin wants to get back to that kind of style/writing. Go forth with Riddick my friend. The voice acting in Butcher Bay was superb; arguably the best actor voice-over work in a video ever done with 50 Cent in a close second. wait a minute...
