Doctor Strange To Finally See Live Action?

By George 'El Guapo' Roush on October 22, 2008
Doctor Strange is one of the hardest of the Marvel characters to classify. In fact, he's arguably the most powerful Marvel character. He can't seem to be killed and his powers are almost endless. Even though he's on "hiatus" in the comic books, it looks like he may live on in the movies.

With Marvel having such a successful run with Iron Man, The Hulk, and now The Punisher, Iron Man 2, The Avengers Initiative, Thor, Spider-Man 4 & 5 and Captain America to come to theaters in the close future, Marvel wants to expand on its giant roster of characters. Here's what MTV reported when they spoke with Marvel President Kevin Feige:

“I’d say in the next year, year and a half, as we start putting together our film slate for 2012 and 2013, I would not be shocked if we saw Dr. Strange on those lists. I love the idea of taping into the magical realm of the Marvel Universe, which is fairly significant and hasn’t yet seen life on screen.

“It’s something I’m very, very interested in,” he emphasized.

But the big question is, who would be a perfect fit to play The Sorcerer Supreme? (Man, this dude has more nicknames than Apollo Creed)

Besides the usual roster of actors, good 'ol Doc has a mustache. And who in Hollywood can pull off a mustache and still be manly enough to handle the role?

Orlando Bloom?

Nope.

One of The Barbarian Brothers?

Double nope.

Ellen DeGeneres?

No. Too manly.

Hulk Hogan?

"You just fell under my spell, bruther!"

I got it!!!!!!!

So what do you guys think? Who should play Doctor Strange? Let the casting couch begin! Comment below or e-mail: george@latinoreview.com

If he wasn't otherwise engaged I'd say Robert Downey Jr. Would rock the Doc!!
Oh, come on...

Naveen Andrews

Why does everyone go running to Depp to play every roll? I say cast Naveen Andrews from LOST. He has the whole beard thing, and his REAL voice is actually a rich English accent. I don't care if he's Asian Indian, it'd actually add to the exotic nature of the character!
QUIGLEY FOR DR. STRANGE

Seeing pictures of him in the count of monte cristo I had this idea (minus the curly fro). We also know he can rock the beard because he was Jesus. And who better to be Dr. Strange than Jesus?

Adrian Brody would be my first choice. Let's get Guilermo Del'Torro to direct this one...he would be PERFECT to give the ol Doc the weirdness needed to come to the big screen. They should go balls out and make it as trippy and....STRANGE!...as they can!
Gary Oldman... Too Old?

Yeah if Robert Downey Jr wasn't already playing Tony Stark, I would've chosen him, but I think Gary Oldman would be a good choice.
James Caviezel

Caviezel to play Dr. Strange. He is 40 years old and is 6'2 in height. He's around the right age and size to pull off the look of Strange without a ton of makeup and cgi for his appearance. We all know he did an excellent portrayal in the Passions. His acting is top notch and he can bring that deep dark persona needed for D Strange....chk out his pic and bio on IMDB......
House M.D. is Dr. Strange

Hugh Laurie is the perfect Dr. Strange! Both are brillant and have horrible bed side manner.
Geoffrey Rush

Need I say more? Check out House on Haunted Hill, he looks like a young Vincent Price/Doctor Strange.
