Early Look: Shoot-Em-Up!

There was a screening of Shoot-Em-Up in beautiful Pasadena last night and Neo Cortex was there. He sent us in an email telling us his thoughts, and he did so quite efficiently!

I don't know too many people not looking forward to Shoot-Em-Up.

Hey Latinos, here’s a look at last night’s screening of the new action film SHOOT-EM-UP that took place in Pasadena. I was going to say it was the most amazing debut of a director that I had ever seen, but then I looked the guy up on IMDB and found out he had directed some lame romantic comedies throughout the nineties. Well NOTHING prepared me for SHOOT-EM-UP. This is a cool as hell, nutso film that blew the shit out of my pants. Can you imagine a film where you are clenching your seat while the villain runs over a newborn baby? Well you get that here. You wanna see your hero screw the hot babe and not have time to pull out before the shooting begins. You got that here. You wanna learn how a bathroom dryer can help dry your wet bullets just in time? Here you go.

The story is hard to explain without spoilers and I hate spoilers. Basically, Paul Giamatti wants this baby dead. He’s got a seemingly endless supply of goons. But he cannot kill this newborn baby because Clive Owen is stopping him. No matter how cool Giamatti is, Owen trumps him. Check and mate bitch! Monica Bellucci used to date Owen, who is kinda the Clint Eastwood character, She is stunningly gorgeous. She’s a hooker. Who lactates.

The director gives us endless gunfights, but the film is called SHOOT-EM-UP so what do you expect? They are all smart and clever. But the film has a huge heart. It is all about staying true to yourself and finding love. And a lot of gunfights.

I could easily see this become a franchise for the director. Clive Owen is so amazing in this film. If I had any complaints I would say that the film was TOO fast- I wanted to savor the action more. This film is FUNNY and the music was perfect.

I asked someone on the way out when the film was being released and they didn’t know. It is a shame because I would watch it again just for that sex shoot out!
