Excited For A Sequel To Heathers? Tough, Cuz It's Not Happening.

Let me just start this article with this paragraph from Movieline where Winona Ryder talks about a sequel to Heathers:
When Star Trek came out earlier this year, Winona Ryder’s elevated press profile brought with it a fresh new wave of chatter about a potential sequel to Heathers. “Whatever you hear, there is a sequel in the works. I swear to God,” Ryder told Empire. “But for some reason the writer Dan Waters and director Michael Lehmann don’t want to talk about it.”
Ok, first off...stuff that comes out of Winona Ryder's mouth is probably acidic and should be avoided. Nobody wants to see her...in anything. So I'm sure in her little Fantasyland brain, she's been telling everyone there's a sequel in the works since the original came out and that she's playing Super Heather who can fly and kill boys with her heat vision. Here's the scenario I imagine happening at every party Winona is crashing:
"Oh, God. Who invited Winona to the party?"
"HEY YOU GUUUUUUYZZZ!!! Guess what? There's gonna be a sequel to Heathers! I've already talked to Christian, well, I've talked to his voicemail. He never seems to answer the phone, and he's totally down with it! At least I think he is... Do you guys hear that whistling?"
So Movieline asked director Michael Lehmann about it:
"No. Winona’s been talking about this for years — she brings it up every once in a while and Dan Waters and I will joke about it, but as far as I know there’s no script and no plans to do the sequel. A couple weeks ago everyone started talking about it and I guess Winona said the movie was gonna get made, and I thought, “I don’t know, maybe they did this without me?” But I got in touch with Dan Waters and he said he didn’t know anything about it. So I don’t think there’s any truth to it."

It's good to know Michael's brain was doing the talking for him, making sure his mouth gives a nice politically correct answer, because you know his gut wanted his mouth to say, "I have no idea what that crazy bitch is talking about."
