Exclusive: 2nd Halo Fall Of Reach Concept Art!

Exclusive: 2nd Halo Fall Of Reach Concept Art! Mayimbe here…

From what I’m told, below is the picture of a scene from the Spartan children in training.  Fans of the book could probably figure out where this one is from.  I do know the Master Chief is in there.  Chime in your comments below.

In the game, Master Chief, the last Spartan, and a brave band of human soldiers risk everything to halt the terrifying Covenant onslaught.

The folks over at Microsoft aren’t too thrilled with us and these pics and are “threatening” us.

The balls on this prick.  Read the letter below.

MS_LR - Free Legal Forms

FYI Mr. Weston, this is nothing more than fan art made by an artist in Hollywood.  When every home made HALO fan art and youtube video on the net is taken down and you guys learn how to properly play ball in Hollywood and make the HALO movie then maybe, I will honor your request.

Yeah, right.

Fuck off.

From what I understand, Mr. Ballmer got egged in Hungary which you can also see below.  Not for nothing, last time I checked there weren’t any major league pitchers from Hungary and that fool clearly missed three pitches, but I do know that there is a large majority of starting pitchers in Baseball who are DOMINICAN like yours truly who know very well how to pitch inside the strike zone.  That is something Mr. Ballmer should keep in mind the next time he visits New York.

I’m off to coach my Cal Ripken League pitchers.  Stay tuned next week when we put up the 3rd pic.  In the meantime you can follow my updates on TWITTER y que se joda Microsoft!

Mayimbe out.

Check out the pic below and for a hi-res version just click on the image.

That letter has spelling errors, no real legal affairs employee from Microsoft would EVER may a spelling error like that. I do not believe it. And these pieces of concept art are nowhere near being copyrighted through Microsoft so I still dont understand why someone from Microsoft would claim to have them taken down. That letter is not real, i assure you of it.
What a juvenile response.
Commented By: guest on 2008-08-12 06:12:49
'Concept Art' is not 'fan art made by an artist in Hollywood'. If the studios paid for this then its to be created its theirs. Your argument comparing this to homemade work is flawed, as that is freely offered by the owners. If your going to publish work against the wishers of the owner, then stand up and acknowledge that rather than hiding behind bullshit justifications.
wha?

@Joe I double-checked the letter and didn't see any spelling errors(did find some in your post, though.) Mind pointing them out? The letter looks pretty legit to me. BTW anyone know wtf that guy was saying in Hungarian?

@joe, the only spelling error i can find is 'top' rather than to. i wasn't aware that simply by grace of being a microsoft lawyer, one was exempt from making the occasional typing error. seeing as 'top' would not be picked up as a spelling error by spell check, your argument of the email being 'fake' really holds no grounds.

to those of you who are bitching, you obviously haven't kept up with the entire story. this isn't artwork that was commissioned by microsoft. this is a project that was put together by several concept artists and a screenwriter that they hope to pitch to microsoft in order to get interest in the movie stirred up again. Mayimbe is right in ignoring the CAD order until it is proven that these works are, in reality, property of microsoft. Like he said, they are basically fan works at the moment, so microsoft really can't have them pulled from any sites.

For those who want to know where John aka MC is, it's the kid reaching for that "trophy". They're playing King of the Hill. Also one of the three military officers is CPO Mendez, the other two should be Commander Keyes and Dr. Halsey, which is a female and thus not represented here. :/

im confidant the original script would have been better. turning a novel into a movie has loads of inherent problems. and that's not to mention, the original script was written by a hand picked author (chosen by bungie) and it was a NEW story woven into the current canon. i just, don't see why re-doing a book is so appealing. for a film like this work work well, it needs a focused scope, and The Fall of Reach is way too big.

LOL. This stuff was made as part of a business venture using MSFT owned stuff in the hopes MSFT would pick it up. It's not "fan" art. please. Replace the MC and the pelican with stormtroopers and tie bombers and see how fast Lucasfilm responds. LOL @ schooling MSFT in how to do buisness. It's the fucktards in hollywood that need to learn to play ball. their 19th century business model is doomed.

I'm not saying that as fans, we'd all like to see this stuff, but the concept art is owned by MS. Like any company would, they're trying to control their IP in the way they see fit. It's there's, not yours or the public's. Like it or not, IP laws exist. You probably thought you were going to be some kind of hero standing up to big mean MS, instead you come off like a prick. It's one thing to show the pictures because of fan interest, but it's another thing entirely to call the lawyer a prick for doing his job or to be angry at MS for trying to protect one of their top brands the way they see fit (as many companies/artists/creators would do; it's their choice).

Commented By: Kim on 2008-08-13 09:47:56
The artwork was created with the intention of being concept art of a halo movie. If Microsoft accepts this hollywood artist's proposal, you'll have leaked the halo movie's production assets, if not, you've at least posted this artist's work. You obviously don't have Microsoft's permission or approval, you'd better hope you have the artist's. Aside from legal terms, nobody wants to see the concept art & pre-production of a movie prior to seeing the film, it spoils the movie.

do you honestly think that companies do not like free advertising? this lawyer like many others are just sniffing out every little thing they can find. This is just concept art for a pitch that has not even been accepted, the attorney only fuels it more by giving it credibility , kind of the opposite he was going for in my opinion.

The letter...

The letter probably is legit. If they intend to use information like this they would want to back it up legally, so they didn't have someone saying that they stole their idea, or get involved in a legal battle for any amount of reasons.. The best way to do this would be to write a kind cease and desist letter, as they did. I don't know if they will follow this up further, but I somehow doubt it.

Commented By: Randall on 2009-02-08 01:40:43
First off, some of those pictures are just cheap scams, because they were released as something else. However, you have not complied with the legality of the ones you did release as Halo: Fall of Reach movie concept art. If you don't get the artist's permission, you're screwed.
Fake, Fake, and Fake.
Commented By: incredibly amused by your fail on 2009-02-25 18:17:31
This shit is faked. The first image is concept art for Halo 2, and the bottom image has the pelican superimposed on the image, as are the training objects and kids/characters. If you want to make a believeable fake, learn to photoshop first and don't waste time using CG stuff, because it sticks out like a sore thumb when you try to merge it with stuff from real life. Anyway, nice try faking that you have proof of anything, again. You guys are dumbasses, and I hope you go bankrupt for being dumbasses and creating blatant lies like this.
Legit.
Commented By: Smarter than the guy below me. on 2009-03-14 05:02:54
Actually, the image, as far as the Halo canon is concerned, is legit. If you had read the Halo books you would realise that the upright logs in the centre of the picture are without a doubt the "Playground". Also, the kids ARE wearing training gear, they've got grey sweats on. And the reason they aren't bald is because this is probably the first training session from "The Fall of Reach", at which time the kids' heads weren't shaved yet. Do some research before you mouth off like a child.
Why?
Commented By: fontanue on 2009-04-02 14:26:56
Why would microsoft get upset? Everyone already knew there would be a film, which would then go to dvd and sit in a million homes collecting dust. Why so spooked? It's not a picture of chief without a helmet.Besides, making a halo movie is "big" and I'm not sure hollywood can come through.I'd rather they make more games...like 9 more. But not like halo wars, like halo 1 with just master chief FPS'n.

If anything, this should help them get the movie off of the freakin' ground, but NOOOOOO, Microsoft HAD to be the idiots here, and HAD TO MAKE A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT!! Whatta bunch o' idiots... Lol, great concept art by the way. :D
