Check out the 3rd of five concept t art pieces for HALO: FALL OF REACH by concept artist Kasra Farahani.
People who read the book know where this scene is from. It looks to me like the Spartans are getting creamed.
Stuart Beattie’s proposed movie script is based on Halo: The Fall of Reach, a 2001 science fiction novel by Eric Nylund based on the Halo series of video games and acts as a prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, the first game in the series. It is set in the fictional Halo universe, taking place in the 26th century across several planets and locations. The novel details the events which led up to the game and explains the origins of the SPARTAN II super soldiers, narrating the story of the series protagonist, the Master Chief.

I don't recall the spartans getting slaughtered by Elites. The only confrontation with an Elite was on board one of the orbital mac guns that John 117 had.

I just recently finished reading this book again, and the only scene I can think of wasn't really a scene at all. I think this is when All but 3 of the Spartans (John, Linda, and James) had a ground battle on Reach. I know they lost, but I couldn't see it happening like this...

I appreciate the general level of quality present in the effort here, but whether in the script itself, or merely in the concept art, there is NO WAY that one of the SPARTAN-IIs that were trained by Mendez would ever be able to be held up like that by an Elite; Gold-Armored Zealot or otherwise. If the SPARTAN-II were dead and lifeless, it would be more believable, but it's clearly clutching its throat. Those who have read the books thoroughly know that this SPARTAN-II would place that armored boot into the side of that squid-chin's skull in a fraction of the Elite's reaction time. In the next half-second, it would probably then rip the blade-wielding limb from that Elite's lifeless-but-not-yet-completely-fallen-to-the-ground body and begin systematically taking out the rest of the remaining Elites, starting with the only one that is holding a projectile weapon, located roughly 18 feet to the SPARTAN-IIs right. I would give an "A" for effort if it weren't painfully obvious how frail of a grasp on the SPARTAN-IIs that the concept artist (or the writer, if she was just drawing something straight from the script) has. Come on guys. The player toasts those enemies like they were nothing in the games, it takes MASSIVE amounts of brute force and RIDICULOUSLY heavy casualties to take out a single SPARTAN-II... let alone 2 to 3 squads of them.

elites are not featured in the fall of reacg on a planet, only on a ship the first ground combat elites were faced chronilogically was on the first halo ring

I think this picture would be the Spartans getting overrun while they were defending the orbital gun generators on Reach. John wasn't there, so fall of reach didn't focus on this battle, only brought up. Sort of like:
Master Chief: I blew up the nav port. The Covenant won't find Earth.
Keys: Great Job. Btw, your spartans got their asses kicked.
Master Chief: ...

if you remember, a large contingent on spartans were sent to guard the MAC cannon generators, with only a handful of survivors (who appeared in later books) the rest got served by the huge covenent forces.

However it is true they probably wouldn't be losing that badly, they aren' even looking like a team, also there is nowhere near enough covenant.

Am I missing something? Is this really supposed to be taken seriously as true concept art for a Halo movie? Or is it all just a joke that everyone's just playing along with for fun?
None of this looks like real concept art. Least of all this latest one. Besides the fact that the Elites shown are all from seperate Halo games, and the one in the background to the right is just the Mcfarlane Elite action figure with a sword edited into it's hand (http://www.spawn.com/toys/games/halo3multi3/elite/images/halo3multi3_elite_photo_01_dp.jpg), and the second one in from the left is obviously taken right from a Halo Wars screenshot.
Anyway, why else would there be such detail on the Elites, but the Spartans are quite crude and share no artistic resemblance to the rest of the image?
If this is really just a joke, then please, by all means laugh at me for not being in on it. Otherwise, come on, people.

Fred divided red team into several groups after landing on reach. these could be the ones left to guard the reactors... or another team altogether. remember that whitcomb and will (i think) stated that their team split in two and the other half was lost when things got hot? this could be them.... if the artwork's legit.

You can tell thats a fake. Its got pictures badly photoshoped in of Elites from Halo 2, 3 and Halo Wars, along with Sparrowhawks pasted in in the back ground. This is just some fan boys shit photoshopping. To say this is concept art is just plain decieving.

A part from the main things completely wrong with this picture, DID anyone else notice that the gold Elite in the far right hand corner (above the LatinoReview logo) , is holding a SMG and a Plasma pistol (or Human Pistol), wtf ???. Elite's dont use human weapons, in the books it makes it clear that Elite's despise human technology, and will never use it (even if they are defenseless).
P.S. Also, the Planet looks more like Sigma Octanus IV, THAN Reach...even though No Spartans died on Sigma Octanus IV, and it was mostly a covert operation !!!

I'm not appreciative of Lation Review posting up these fakes. Its pretty obvious they are fakes as well. What surprises me is which ever idiot made them actually has the balls to call themselves a 'concept artist'. Photoshop fanartist, with a little bit of poor quality 3D modelling in there. As for the comment that its going to be a concept of the last stand at Reach, weren't the SPARTANS in a bunker complex defrending the power stations? Not standing in the middle of a swamp, getting drop pods dropped on them You notice as well, the drop pods are different sizes to the Elites, heck, some of the Elites have different phsyiology to each other. Like I said, its some idiots fanciful fan art.

I AM a concept artist, and most of the time the concept art done for a movie is WORSE that that! WAY worse...
You are just a unhappy fanboy or an attention whore, but definately you have NO IDEA of what are you talking about... Those images posted are more a pre-viz than concept art, but still they are real.

spartans wouldn't get manhandled like that. master cheif fought an elite one on one. not to mention william killed a hunter with his bare hands until the other hunter went crazy and blasted him. plus.......if there were some spartans still shooting, the elites wouldn't just be standing around like that.

Why call this concept art when you admitted earlier that it was fan-made art by a guy in Hollywood. It's not even official, right? This is concept art as much as my friend's .45 is a Halo M6D pistol. Making something out of nothing here. Nice photoshop, btw? Not. That shot is pretty bad.

Newsflash, guys: the game and it's universe aren't supposed to be realistic. The script doesn't have to be a literal rewriting of the Fall of Reach novel (despite what some fanboys think), and the art doesn't have to literally show events from the book.
Of course it's "fanart". Every piece of art or merchandise not owned by Microsoft is, by extension, a fan-created product. When this film comes out, there will be people who will complain and bitch because it didn't fit in with their own perception of what the book was like.
To all the fans who complained about trivial details in this piece of "art", may God have mercy on your souls.

This image illustrate the fall of Reach but this story is appeared in "The First Strike". Not "The Fall of Reach"

For one many of you people don't even know what CONCEPT art is. IT DIFFERS! The artist is coming out with these in 7 days which is a perfect reason for it to have shortcuts in it to save time. Secondly NO ONE is in position to say whether this is legit or not SO SAVE IT!! WAIT AND SEE I'm sure that something is going to be mentioned by MS in a month or two.
