Exclusive: Beverly Hills Cop Will NOT Be Rated PG
By George 'El Guapo' Roush on June 30, 2008

Following up on a previous post back in early June,
MTV Blogs stated that Brett Ratner was hinting at making Beverly Hills Cop 4 a more kid oriented affair. While Brett never ever said that, MTV said there could possibly be a PG rated Axel Foley when Ratner said the following:
When asked what is biggest challenge would be, Ratner seemed to indicate that his new film would be geared towards a very PG audience.
“10-year-old kids, 12-year-old kids don’t really know the old ‘Beverly Hills Cop.’ So it’s an opportunity to make it new for kids,” Ratner said. “The same way it felt for me watching ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ when I was a kid, that’s what I want to do for kids today.”Why MTV would hint at it being a PG rated film just because of that quote is beyond me. I saw the first one in the theater when I was 13 (If you do the math, I'll kill you) so being 10 to 13 and listening to swear words won't be anything new to today's youth. If I could handle it back then, I'm pretty sure today's kids growing up on Grand Theft Auto won't blink twice at it.
This past weekend, Latinoreview head honcho Kellvin Chavez chatted a bit with Brett Ratner at The Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. When asked about the rumor that Beverly Hills Cop 4 may be rated PG, Brett laughed and replied:
"Dont believe everything you read on the internet. Believe me, this is going to be a hard core 'R' Beverly Hills Cop. I start shooting next year"So there it is, straight from the horse's mouth. If Ratner says it's going to be 'R' rated, then barring studio interference, we can look forward to Axel Foley swearing it up like a mofo.
