El Mayimbe here... Hey guys, it's been a minute since we did one of these. We are going through some changes on the site to make it better for you the reader so please bear with us through this transition phase. Regardless, the show must go on!
According to Bloody Disgusting who broke the news back in the day, MGM is moving forward on the remake of Tobe Hooper and Steven Speilberg's classic POLTERGEIST.
The new writers are Juliet Snowden and Stiles White who wrote the recent Nicholas Cage movie KNOWING. They also wrote BOOGEYMAN. Now if you're a kid of the 1980's like I was, the flick back in 1982 scared the crap out of me. I clearly remember being a terrified 9 year old sitting in the Prospect Theater on Main Street in Flushing, NY developing a fear of clowns and trees by the window as I watched the film. Remember when that dude peeled his face off in the bathroom? How crazy was that?! How that movie was never rated R is beyond me. Supposedly, White and Snowden are specialists in horror projects, so what's the verdict on the script? Did they deliver the goods? Find out below as El Diablo took a look at the first draft of the remake and gives us the lowdown. Hasta el proximo capitulo...
UPDATE
So MGM has requested that we inform you that the version of the script El Diablo reviewed, "is not the version they're going to use." Of course it's not, and we never meant to imply that. As we said before, it's only the first draft and as with any first draft there are going to be plenty of rewrites. Beats are going to change here and there, characters might come and go. Very rarely does a writer or writing team stay on the project from first draft to picture lock, and it's even rarer for a first draft to look exactly like the final result.
What we aim to do with our episodes is get at the bigger picture and let our readers know what they might expect down the line and what the creative team is currently working with. It's a good way to start discussion and a great way for those working on the movie to get an early feel from readers and critics alike.
