Off the bat, ok, so I guess I was wrong about Chris Pine. Shit happens. No biggie. In the words of Optimus Prime, "My bad."
Anyway...
Drew over at Hitfix the other night blew up the spot with announcing that Bradley Cooper is in contention.
Yesterday I was working the phones talking to my guys about this late development and what was interesting to me was not Bradley Cooper (who I personally see as a longshot), but more interestingly an unknown actor who is actually one of Martin Campbell's top choices.
Enter Shawn Roberts.
Roberts has auditioned for Campbell various times and has even taken a couple of meetings with Campbell concerning the Hal Jordan role. I hear Campbell loves the guy.
Here is the kicker, Shawn Roberts just finished working with Campbell on "Edge of Darkness."
Roberts is also the right age - a young and ripped 25.
In my opinion, Roberts looks the part. Also let's not forget Campbell likes to look at plenty of folks and I'm sure every up and coming actor under the age of 30 has auditioned for the role.
Also let's not forget how close Henry Cavill came to being the new James Bond.
What I do know is that they're looking for someone younger, hence why I don't see Bradley Cooper being the guy.
Another interesting name that auditioned and even screen tested with the mask on was the luckiest man in Hollywood - Brian Austin Green. Yep, 90210's David Silver.
Again a longshot because of his age but there is no denying Green is another guy who has the look and physicality of a Hal Jordan.
In closing, nobody has been cast as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern yet.
Things are certainly getting interesting and we will know soon enough who Hal Jordan will be.

Shawn Roberts HANDS FUCKING DOWN! Although Brian Austin Green does look good as well. He's great in Terminator Series. These two are way better than Bradley Cooper for sure. Hopefully Campbell gets his guy this time around.

Looks more like Rayner but doesn't seem to have the trolo personality....
I would love to have Brian as GL, he has the look just not the voice in my opinion.
Hal Jordan is if anything, a military man, air force badass, Brian doesn't really give that vibe

I dont know of roberts work but i agree he has a good look for hal. Hopefully we will get solid casting locked and sealed news soon.

Green will be an out of the box choice. One that seems intriging yet could lead to a disaster if he brings his 90210 vibe to playing the character.

Forget about 90210 that was so long ago.... I was pissed when he showed up in the Terminator show..
I was like " *@$& this jerk is in this now?"
But then something strange happened... he owned the role he was awesome and quickly became my favorite character...
He could be awesome in this role too... stop hating on the dude because he was in 90210 and he gets to poke his wang in Megan Fox and you don't.

I think they should cast someone who can actually act. Thats why Ryan Gosling remains as my first choice, its a shame he dosent want the part. This Guy from 90210 is a television actor, you need someone with real talent. I have nothing against the Shawn Roberts guy, but they need someone who can bring some real drama to the role, like Daniel Craig did for Bond.

Cooper looks and acts like a douchebag, and Roberts is to inexperienced and Austin Green is too old.
The only three actors WB's and Campbell should consider for the role of Hal Jordan IMO are Sam Worthington, Chris Pine or Henry Cavill.....period!

Very interesting choice but if I were Alan Horn from WB, I would sign Roberts, you Campbell has shown he can introduce actors to big roles like he introduced two Bonds with Bronson and Craig, and Craig was really an Unknown. He did Layer Cake and then he went straight to do Bond and look how he turned out. So Roberts got my vote.

But, I cannot believe I'm saying this, BAG is my favorite among them. He kicked the shit out of his role on SCC, and has proven to me he can be a legit action guy, not to mention he has the look of Hal Jordan. Roberts has the most comic book look, though, and Cooper is still my drean Green ARROW

Zillaman, If you are not going to say something intelligent, please be quiet. As for Eddict, Mark Walberg is also a great choice, he worked with Jack Nicholson, Dicaprio, Robert Duval and Tim Roth, so you know he is good. Same with Gosling having worked with Anthony Hopkins and James Garner, GREAT ACTORS HAVE GREAT MASTERS. Look, Iron Man and The Dark Knight are great movies because of the casting. Even with Daniel Craig, he did some work early in his carrer with Morgan Freeman in the Power of One. Campbell is going to need someone with real talent for this one, otherwise is going to suck big time, and for real, I dont see a great movie with any of these actors involved, they just dont have it. The part is perfect for Gosling!!!!!!! otherwise keep looking. If they are thinking Dicaprio for the role of Capitain America, I think they shold considered him for this one as well.

Shawn Roberts? I heard he got fired off Edge of Darkness and is no longer in the film. He is in the Chris Columbus film I Love You Beth Cooper, which doesn't look very good. He seems to play into the buff high school boyfriend cliche. I think getting a dramatic actor with solid chops, beefing him up and surprising the audience is the best route...enter Ryan Gosling, enter Henry Cavill, enter Sam Worthington, enter James McAvoy, enter Michael C Hall

The guy looks EXACTLY like Hal Jordan. Just like Jackie Erie Haley looks like Rorshach, (Well, of course he had to GROW HAIR, but that's a different story.) Point being, Shawn Roberts looks like Hal, and, If he's a good actor, He's should be the Green Lanturn.
