Exclusive: Halo Fall Of Reach Concept Art!

I just got back in to NYC after staying in Los Angeles for a week after Comic Con.  Yes, I felt that nasty Earthquake.  The con and especially the WRATH OF CON PARTY were a blast.  I left the con inspired, so I decided to go on a little stealth mission all around L.A. and hit up my sources to see what I can dig up comic book and/or sci-fi related.  I got a bunch of goodies for fans this week.

Ok, so Halo…

The HALO movie in it’s current incarnation, the one that we all know publicly about, the one involving FOX/UNIVERSAL, Peter Jackson, Neil Blomkamp, with the script by Garland and rewritten by DB Weiss…

…is completely dead in Hollywood.  That project will never happen.  Everybody involved has already moved on.

But, then we discovered and broke that screenwriter Stuart Beattie decided to do something about it. He started over fresh and wrote a spec script based on the best selling novel HALO: FALL OF REACH.  

Halo: The Fall of Reach is a 2001 science fiction novel by Eric Nylund based on the Halo series of video games and acts as a prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, the first game in the series. It is set in the fictional Halo universe, taking place in the 26th century across several planets and locations. The novel details the events which led up to the game and explains the origins of the SPARTAN II super soldiers, narrating the story of the series protagonist, the Master Chief.

Stuart Beattie’s script is very real and out there floating around in Hollywood folks.  How real?  Well, there has been concept art made by conceptual artist Kasra Farahani (WOLF MAN, HANCOCK, SPIDERMAN 3) for certain scenes of the new HALO: FALL OF REACH script as part of an eventual presentation to Microsoft.  From what I’m told, the presentation is very cool!

There are some big time professionals in Hollywood who are also Halo fans that want to see the movie made.  I scored five pieces of the concept art and will be releasing them on a weekly basis for the next five weeks.  From what I know, this particular scene takes place halfway through the proposed script and yes that’s Master Chief in the middle.

I dont trust this story. That looks exactly like a screen cap of a cut scene from the first game with a few spartans and missiles draw on. They didnt even change the name of the ship to try and keep with the canon.

I have a lot of respect for Nylund*s work, and that book in particular. Looking forward to seeing the concept art.

ZAff, to me it looks like it would actually be from the end of the book at the actual fall of Reach, they aren not missiles they are covenant ships. In the story 3 spartans one of which was the cheif departed the Pillar of Autumn to destroy a ships navi crystal on a station orbiting reach, they did this by free fall to the station.

Ok, this is the part where they meet the Covenant face to face for the first time, in the book a ton of spartans were sent with propulsion packs. Only three made it on the ship, Kelly, Sam, and John. (the others got picked up later). Those streaks are Archer missle pods.

Read the book before you call people out. POA was in the battle above Reach. But not at Chi Ceti-4 mid way through the book. This is a possible scene. But only toward the end as suggested earlier.

The Autumn did not have that font on the side. There are also a ton of windows that should not be there. It is def. not a screencap from H1, but there is something ... off about the pic.

Zaff, have you read The Fall of Reach? The PoA was used in the battle for Reach and as someone else pointed out, it also looks different than in the games. This is definitely not a screen cap. A Halo movie would be fantastic, I hope this leads somewhere. Done right it could easily be not only a good game-based movie but a great movie, period.

Its rough Concept art they probably took the models from the pc game and moved them around to try and look cool to save time. im up in the air about a fall of reach movie. its a great book and could make a really good movie or totaly end up sucking balls

this part of the story is when the spartans had to jump on to a covey ship. it had a huge hole in it caused by a mac gun. only 3 of them made it. John,Sam and Kelly. i love that book and have always said the movie should be base on it.

This isnt a screen shot, no matter how much we want it to be. First, the only part in the book where the spartans jump is when theyre getting the original Mark IV armor and they have thruster packs on. Second, the only OTHER time they go on a space combat mission, theyre going to the orbital space station ring, which they go to in a pelican. This is just as the name implies, CONCEPT ART. Although all the speculation certainly is good

The Battle of Reach. I think that's screen is from the first time the Spartans meet the Covenant, they use propulsor packs to invade the covenant ship, that is the first time a Spartan dies, it was Sam I think, he died in the ships' explosion. The UNSC ship was called Iroquois or something like that

FINALLY THEY DO THINGS PROPERLY !! Ok I'll admit, I am mourning the loss of Neil Blomkamp and Peter Jackson as director and producer HOWEVER. The storyline in the books are much better then the games and after reading them all it only makes sense for them to start with Fall Of Reach. If we can find the right people to do this... I'm fuckin pumped !!

Some people are just plain dumb. They played the Halo games for Xbox live and not story. The Halo story line is easily one of the most epic stories in video games to date. Most of the world knows the story from the Halo 1, 2, and 3 games but only real fans of the saga know the origins. I think it is ESSENTIAL to start with the beginning to understand the complexity of the Halo games. Master Chief is a tragic character, someone who has ONLY known war from childhood to the closing credits of Halo 3. I think it is essential for Fall of Reach to be the first Halo film.

Tha scene is awesome, if you've read the book. The Spartans aren't "flying" throught space- They're entering the atmospere of the planet Reach without any protection gear. It's just a skydiving pic in space. They are NOT flying. Get that straight. The ships around them are falling to the planet due to them being shot down, etc. Read the book then decide if it's cool or not.

First off, neither of these scenes are actually IN the book. Second, the "concept art" is ripped off from bungie's actual artwork. The top one is the Halo 2 box cover with a new background. The bottom one is stolen from the opening scene from Halo: Combat Evolved with Spartans added. This could all be done in Photoshop in about half an hour. I call b.s.

That is just a graphic render, the real movie will be with real actors most likely. The render is just to get the ball rolling and its an easy way to convey the plot line to studios so we can finally see the halo movie get done. I have been a HUGE HALO fan since it began and so is EVERYBODY I know. Why this movie would not already be in production, boggles my mind. Just saying, even if it sucked, everybody would go see it anyway. For an example, Star Wars (the first one ever made) the movie has similar problems with getting people to fund the movie and it ended up being AMAZING. Another example, Independence Day, same scenario, end result: everybody loved it! Halo has the same basic concepts of every great sci-fi movie, how could it not end up fantastic. The Elites look like Predators, the swords remind me of a light saver; if thats not cool enough then just imagine Master Chief in a sword fight with an Elite (while the Elite is invisible and the sword is glowing). Now, lets stop stalling and START THE PRODUCTION OF THIS MOVIE ALREADY!!! Just an idea, Halo movie should start from the beginning not the middle like Star Wars did.

If you read the book you would know this in not about falling into Reaches attmosphere or flying through space it is when the Spartins recived the MJOLNIR armor and they went EVA to take out a covent ship with a pelican dropships missles.

ok, first of all, this is not fake.(inside tip) and the only reason its on standby is because they cannot find a person/team that they find suitable to make a movie of the quality everyone is asking for, It looks like it may take about another 1.5-2 years to make.

is awesome but these concept images are not. No crappy CG. That is why it is concept are because there is no way it would look like that on the big screen. With peter jackson behind it think more of a lord of the rings feel. At the battle for helms deep, the shot of all those orcs charging at that wall is completely CG. That looked pretty good to me and CG only gets better as time goes on. With stuart bettie writing a decent script this movie is well on its way, ill be sad to see them mess this one up if they do.

The artwork is, I'm guessing, a concept thrown together for the script Stuart Beattie handed in and someone has snatched it and put it up for the masses. It's from when they have to go and destroy the crystal on the space station at Reach. They are Archer missiles in the background. But in the book they did crash a pelican into the station. Man the book would be so good as a movie.

yeah, to the guy who doesnt know why they're flying, its from the first novel: fall of reach. the chief's first encounter with the covenent is when he 'flys' with kelly and the other spartans from his ship to the covenent one. are you sure you read all the books?

Its CONCEPT ART. most likely used to help illustrate what the director wants the shot to look like... something like that... if it was the actual animation for the final product then halo would be laughed at.

So that pic is partially right, but it wasn't the PoA who lunched them, it was the Commonwealth. I for one do hope the movies are made, and I do hope they start with Reach, but that's not exactly the start of the story, but it is a good start for the movies, considering they are most likely going to be based around the Master Chief. I say most likely because, as stated by Joseph Staten: "Where the Master Chief doesn't have a face...That's hard to carry as a main character for an entire film. But you can certainly surround him with people who don't have helmets on and you can see their faces." You people really need to get your facts straight, honestly.

THIS IS WHERE THE COVENANT SHOW UP AT REACH ok couple covenant fleets show up at reach and its a scramble to delete all navgation data and linda james (i think its been a while) and john(of corse) and they have a pelican modified and they crash land at the station and get a suprise by covenant comin in and the james (i think)gets shot and his jet pack goes hay wire and hes never seen again linda and john get in and destroy it and linda gets mortalley wounded mc puts her in cryo in hope to save her later////////////////////////i dont feel like sayin the other encounter cause i jus dont but daniel ur right but they had that fight above the damascus planet where the spartans got the suits and the reach battle is like encounter 300 or sumthin the spartans have been defending before that///////////// AND I APPERICIATETHE PEOPLE THAT REALLY KNOW WAT THERE TALKING ABOUT//////////////////////////////////AND YES MAKE THE MOVIEAS MUCH AS THE GAMES SOLD FOR IT WOULD MAKE ALOT thank you
