Our notorious trusted source 'Pinche Taco' is at it again and this time around he's got news about Rob Cohen's upcoming project "Medieval."
It was reported back in June 2009 that Rob Cohen was supposed to be directing xXx: The Return of Xander Cage for Sony but left the project to direct a new event-sized action film "Medieval" and at the time Cohen him called the project "The Magnificent Seven" in the Middle Ages.
Not so fast now because according to 'Pinche Taco' the film has been dropped and shut down.
Here is what 'Pinche Taco' tells us.
Hola Chicos, Pinche Taco here with the latest blatherings de nada de los Ninos de Hollywood!
Esta historia es muy triste, very sad. It is a tale of Hollywood 2010 and the hard times it is to get a film made. It is a story of good men y mal hombres. And the missed chance to get medieval on your ass.
Director Rob Cohen is a nice guy with some talent in the world of action, if you liked xXx. I did. I really apreciado his early films, especially the Dragonheart one, that was pretty damn badass. He’s hit and miss, but he did the first FAST AND FURIOUS. So he’s pretty successful.
Anyway, six months ago he was given a choice- go do XXX3 or go do this badass script MEDIEVAL. It’s kind of "300" but set back during the Crusades. Muy Grande Sword fights. Hacked limbs. Beheadings. Basically everything we all love. So super Rob chose Medieval. Good times were to be had by all.
The film was being financed by New Regency, which was once a great production company but is now basically Fox’s offshore bank. A guy named after where I lodge my rabbit, Hutch Parker, who was a mediocre executive at Fox runs the place nowadays as does Fox’s old marketer Bob Harper. So you could say Regency is where Fox put their bad executives out to pasture- and you wouldn’t be wrong.
Entonces, Rob Cohen goes off to Romania and starts working on the movie. The script, which of course Regency BOUGHT, is a team effort- basically 6 roles for great actors, no need for a star. Like "300," who the hell was Gerard Butler before that right? Rob starts building sets and all. Spends TWELVE million dollars on the movie. That’s $12,000,000. Six zeroes.
And then guess what? Yup. The geniuses at New Regency decide they want a movie star in the movie. Except the movie doesn’t NEED a movie star and no movie star will do it.
So Conejera Parker shuts the movie down. Rob Cohen sent home. Medieval shoved UP his ass not ON it. And your friend Taco gets denied a film he was excited about.
Now maybe this has something to do with the rumors that Relativity, the company that bought Rogue from Universal and wiped their ass with it, was looking to buy Regency. Supposedly that has something to do with Regency’s owner’s son-in-law getting fired from Relativity. Quien sabe?
What I do know is that Medieval is OVAH and OUT.
Yo soy Pinche Taco and no me gusto los Conejos!

Stay tuned as the story develops
