From Kyle Reese to Green Lantern?

With both a director and a release date firmly in place, the search is underway for Hal Jordan. From what I gathered so far, Sam Worthington is obviously unavailable due to his role in Clash of Titans... Ryan Gosling, who we reported earlier as a candidate, passed on the role... According to a source, Emile Hirsch (Speed Racer) has also just passed on the role... So the producers are looking at every young up and coming actor in Hollywood INCLUDING a name I at first found peculiar, but it grew on me and I wanted to share it with you guys. Anton Yelchin
He is after playing the young bad ass of the future/past Kyle Reese in the upcoming Terminator Salvation (which I can't wait to see) and got the Chekov part in Star Trek. But Hal Jordan? What do you guys think? Can you see Anton wearing the ring? Hey, if they went to current it boy Emile Hirsch who is 5' 7'' and totally out of left field in my opinion, then Anton who is 5' 9'' is certainly a possibility.
UPDATE: The producers really REALLY want Ryan Gosling. Even though he initially passed they are going to try again. Anything is possible but insider folks believe he is going to pass yet again. Hell, look at how many times the Dodgers went to Manny Ramirez and how many times he's passed on their offer.

Jon Hamm, from 'Mad Men' (if they don't bag him for CAPTAIN AMERICA). Hal Jordan is a man, not an emo-boy.

He looks nothing like the character! Why does WB insist on casting twiggy runts as superheros? First skinny Superman, then baby Justice League and now a puny waif as the supposed to be lantern-jawed macho test pilot Hal Jordan! Grrrr. Somebody needs to beat the asses of WB execs until they quit spitting on these characters.

No boys for Hal
Commented By: darkknight01 on 2009-02-26 19:15:52
Going after Hircsh and Yelchin would be terrible casting decisions. They are way to short and way too young! At least cast an actor in his late 20's or 30's that looks young.
Josh Duhamel, Ryan Phillippe, Josh Hartnett, Jake Gyllenhaal would ALL be solid choices compared to Hirsch and Yelchin??
Ugh

maybe a young Hal Jordan or even a good Kyle Rayner

I must agree...
Commented By: Joe on 2009-02-26 19:37:36
Yeah, I agree with everyone else. I think they should find someone that looks like a MAN and not a boy to play Hal Jordan...Wasn't the character in his early Thirties anyway?
I don't recall any test pilots looking like they just got out of High School.
Jon Hamm does sound like a good contender in my book...

What can I possibly say that hasn't already been said. For the first time ever, I absolutely agree with everybody here on this one. I wish Warner Bros. could read this thing becuase I'm positive that this is how most of the comic book fan community feels about this shit. And I do mean shit. It seems apparent to me that they don't have thier shit together and that they clearly don't care about the characters they own through thier DC Comics company. No surprise to anyone that the only rule that matters here is the one of the all mighty dollar. I can't believe they're still trying to sell us this shit. I guess they believe that this is the way they can appeal to the rest of the masses to jump start thier profits, by giving us a pussy boy for the swooning teeny boppers! What Fucking Pendejos! They don't seem to realize that they'll be alienating thier core audiance in the process. Whats so hard to understand? He's a man, not a boy. No wonder Marvel is kicking thier ass. With stupid moves like this, why bother having competition? They haven't learned. The casting of lead characters in Catwoman, Superman Returns or Constantine haven't taught them anything. Or the autrocity of movies like Batman & Robin and Catwoman... Jesus! They must have thier heads up thier asses. Truly, I'd like to see the faces of these pendejo's who are responsible for these dumbass decisions at the studio for myself. I'd just like to see what a total fucking pendejo looks like. You know, the suits. Any way I guess I just needed to vent. Here's hoping they fuck up Green Lantern. Peace.

I agree with every single point so far. I just hope they don't put the gossip girl cast as the Suicide Squad... OH spoke too soon! At least Watchmen is looking awesome, the suits must have been on a retreat that weekend I guess. Here's hoping they take a permanent one... you WB execs are nothing but LOSERS!!!

So Tired
Commented By: Matthimself on 2009-02-27 00:22:11
I'm so tired of this kid. he is not even close to bad ass enough to lay kyle reese and definitely not a good choice for Hal. he wouldn't even make a good Kyle. He could prob be a good guardian though, he's short enough. I say cast him as ganthet.

Just as Bale IS Batman, Fillion IS Green Lantern
Commented By: Clem on 2009-02-27 02:45:25
All of the suggested "names" from the studio have been horrendous. It's as if they've never read a Green Lantern comic in their lives.
Nathan Fillion has everything you'd ever need from Hal Jordan. He's manly, charming, womanising, brash and prone to throw a punch or two.
I can't be the only one who sees this because the name Nathan Fillion follows Green Lantern around as though it's already been cast.
Make it happen.

Worthington or Yelchin, really?
Commented By: Jesus H. Christ on 2009-02-27 03:05:02
How can you consider Worthington and Yelchin for the same character? That's like an apple and a potato competing for the role of side dish at your next dinner. I guess we'll see what happens. What about... that blue eyed guy who tested for Batman in 2003. He was in that series with soldiers ... Brothers in Arms or something like that. Come on. Pick someone believeable for the role.

why are they looking to cast children?(PLEASE listen to us,WB)
Commented By: Dr. Corday on 2009-02-27 10:00:11
Hal is a MAN not a BOY. Maybe if they were casting Kyle Rayner it'd make more sense.
Emille Hirsch? Really? was Zack Efron busy?
WB, look at "IRON MAN"...That's what your GL flick should be like.
See how awesome Robert Downey Jr. was as Tony Stark? Huge hit at the box office, and the lead actor was 40-plus. think about it

Wrong wrong wrong
Commented By: Brian on 2009-02-27 11:04:19
Goddammit, Jordan's supposed to be a kick-ass, hot-dog, daredevil test pilot! Does Yelchin strike you as that at all? Hell, did Gosling strike you as that?
I say give it to effing Jensen Ackles, Dean Winchester on "Supernatural." He's already part of the Warner Bros. family and he has a bit more box-office clout after "My Bloody Valentine 3-D." He could play Hal Jordan in his sleep.

Commented By: Dave on 2009-02-27 11:32:03

Wrong Choices
Commented By: Justin Hammer on 2009-02-27 12:27:24
Hal Jordan is a MAN, a test pilot, not a twentysomething. Emile Hirsch?, Anton Yelchin? Who´s next? Jaden Smith? Por Dios!
I´m very worried about this movie. WB execs please pick up Geoff Johns as a creative consultant.

Green Lantern
Commented By: Kyle on 2009-02-27 13:16:45
I don't understand how in the world you could pick someone who looks like thery're 12 and under 6 foot. They need to cast a mature actor look what Christian Bale did for the Batman Franchise. It sounds like they still have that Justice League mentality and are casting teenagers. This is a terrible choice and I don't think Ryan Gosling pick either. WB can't afford to screw this up they're on a role right now with The Dark Knight and Watchmen don't screw this franchise up it could be huge if cast right.

I haven't found a single statement by any of the actors or their representatives saying that they were offered the role and declined it. Ryan Gosling is still signed to do the Kurt Cobain biography film. My agents been calling every week for me since October trying to get information on just who is casting the film, and noone knows anything. The studio may have somebody in mind, but usually no casting director=no cast.

Commented By: Superstar280 on 2009-02-27 15:31:00
Yeah, he's a bit young. I know they want younger, but I gotta agree with eveyrbody that says he looks like he's in high school. Was Bale even 30 when he first played Batman? Bale looked older. You can get a young actor that looks older who can be amazing. Does anybody know what director Martin Campbell thinks? Has he even commented on the movie yet? Maybe this is what WB thinks and not Campbell. I'd trust Campbell, he cast Daniel Craig as Bond and that turned out fine. Hopefully Campbell has enough sense to go after somebody who looks like they've gone through puberty already.

not this little kid. sorry, but he looks like a wuss. I have incredible hopes for a GL movie, featuring the corps and all, and this dude here would just kill it for me. Too bad about Sam Worthington, he has a great look for the part. We need a manly man to play Hal, or otherwise get a black manly man to play John Stewart, which I would love just as much.

movie producers/directors/actors need to start listening to US! first off, who pays the over priced 10 dollars for a ticket? us. who will be the judges to spread the good or bad word on the movie? us! most of all, who the hell has been waiting for a hal jordan green lantern film since we first heard about the man without fear? US!!! the fans want the following: a MAN to play THE man, who also has a build (brandon routh was good, but a skinny weiner and couldnt fill the tights) and an actor (or any actor diving into a super hero role) who will pull a heath ledger and spend hundreds of hours to BECOME hal jordan. what would be the point to cast someone because they are the best out of the worst and to make a lacluster film that no one will like? this movie and all comic movies need to spend the time and effort to cast perfectly even if that means searching the ends of the earth and beyond, and a good script and the works. i just dont wanna be disapointed come xmas 2010.

green lantern casting
Commented By: wilson on 2009-03-02 20:37:51
I think a good age for the actor casted as Hal Jordan would be 25 to 30 -- Someone say, like James Franco would be a decent choice -- remember how good he looked as the Green Goblin in Spider-Man 3? I could see Ryan Gosling (if he worked out a bit), but he's a bit too blond for my taste.
