**UPDATE BELOW**
Fox News, the fair and balanced network that never lies (actually, they all lie) is reporting that the role of Captain America is pretty much locked up with Krasinski as the front runner.
More from Fox:
"John has read 4 times and is doing screen tests," our source tells us. "He has screen tested 2 times so far. It's very likely that he will be the new Captain America. He is a favorite among the key decision makers and has been asked to come back for more this week."
At this point, Krasinski is the main focus at Marvel.
"The big bosses are having him read with multiple actresses up for the female leads. They want to lock down the role and then they will narrow down everyone else."

I have nothing against Krasinki, I just don't think he'd be a good Captain America. Honestly, what have we seen from this guy that's even close to being action oriented? He certainly doesn't look like Cap. He has the height, and with the right training (*cough* roids *cough*) he'll get big enough for the part. But is Jim Halpert the right guy to lead The Avengers?
I know people were saying Robert Downey Jr. was not the right choice for Iron Man and look how that turned out, but I wasn't one of those guys. I always thought Downey was a fine choice. Krasinski just gives me doubts. But hey, if he can pull it off then more power to him.
**UPDATE**
Looks as if Fox News jumped the gun. Deadline is reporting that Krasinski is out and guys like Chris Evans (Human Torch from the FF movies), Mike Vogel from Cloverfield and Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy) are in as a potential Captain America. So much for going with an unknown. Chris or Garrett would make a good Cap I think.
Better than Krasinki, whose screen test image I managed to capture from one of my Marvel spies.
