Hear 'Another Way To Die' The Quantum of Solace Theme Song
By Kellvin Chavez on
September 18, 2008
Last week Coke revealed the new marketing campaign for the new James Bond flick, Quantum of Solace. The Ad featured music composed by Jack White of The White Stripes and was said that this was the them for the film.
Now reader 'Lorenzo' sent us an email pointing us to this site where you can hear the whole song entilted "Another Way To Die" and get this Jack White sings with Alicia Keys as well. At the end of the song, which seems that was played on the radio in Spain you can here them say that this is the song for Quantum of Solace.
"Quantum of Solace" continues the high octane adventures of James Bond (Daniel Craig) in "Casino Royale."
Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal. Pursuing his determination to uncover the truth, Bond and M (Judi Dench) interrogate Mr White (Jesper Christensen) who reveals the organisation which blackmailed Vesper is far more complex and dangerous than anyone had imagined.
Forensic intelligence links an Mi6 traitor to a bank account in Haiti where a case of mistaken identity introduces Bond to the beautiful but feisty Camille (Olga Kurylenko), a woman who has her own vendetta. Camille leads Bond straight to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless business man and major force within the mysterious organisation.
On a mission that leads him to Austria, Italy and South America, Bond discovers that Greene, conspiring to take total control of one of the world's most important natural resources, is forging a deal with the exiled General Medrano (Joaquin Cosio). Using his associates in the organisation, and manipulating his powerful contacts within the CIA and the British government, Greene promises to overthrow the existing regime in a Latin American country, giving the General control of the country in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of land.
In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists and even M, to unravel Greene's sinister plan and stop his organisation.
Dont like it on 2008-09-18 11:12:32 I just dont feel this song could beat the previous song by Chris Cornell. It was more rock and less pop like this song.
Its Okay Commented By: Eriq on 2008-09-18 11:17:41 I still think the best Bond them song is A VIEW TO A KILL. This new one is....is jut okay it aint all that.
Well, Commented By: Robert Hamer on 2008-09-18 11:59:03 I personally thought that Chris Cornell's song was boring, but the biggest problem with this song is that the two singers are so different that the song doesn't sound homogenous at all. If it was just Jack White or just Alicia Keyes it might have worked, but instead this is like listening to an intriguing and fascinating trainwreck.
Live & Let Die Commented By: Harker Studios on 2008-09-18 12:14:28 It reminds me a lot of Live and Let Die. Not that impressed with this song. Kind of annoying actually.
Commented By: PRODIGAL SON on 2008-09-18 12:19:29 all daniel craigs films have had lacklustre theme songs... that's my opinion anyway. I just can't help thinking what Amy Winehouse song would sound like, actually i think she's releasing it... so we can see the difference.
Commented By: Fontez on 2008-09-18 14:34:54 I actually really like it. It'll take a little time for it to grow on me, just like "You Know My Name" did, but overall it was well written and Jack White did a good job incorporating the Jazz them into his raw indie rock sound. Although... I DO think it would have been better without Alicia Keys. Or Alicia Keys alone, it doesn't work well as a duet, it's kinda pointless. But I like it.
007EX on 2008-09-18 14:35:03 mmm... bad choice after ¨You know my name¨
Commented By: ryan on 2008-09-18 14:45:39 well..its not better than the previous song but i like it i think it will fit the movie perfectly.
Not Bad Commented By: Fontez on 2008-09-18 15:19:01 I actually really like it. Jack White is extremely talented and the song is written very well, especially the instrumentals. It's Jack White's flavor of indie rock but he still managed to incorporate the jazzy bond theme and give it some swagger. Although... I DO think it would have been better without Alicia Keys. The Duet was unessecary, and pointless.
Yeah this song is aesome Commented By: DJ on 2008-09-18 15:46:44 If you listen carefully it sounds like it carries some of the sound of You Know my name. It's very subtle but the song makes me think of the previous film. As if they are trying to create continuity through the music as well as the storylines. It feels like a natural, and cool, progression.
Love the horns on this.
WTF? Commented By: Tim on 2008-09-18 15:58:37 What a mishmash.
Wow... Commented By: keifaleif on 2008-09-18 16:10:26 This song now has me worried for a movie that I am very excited for.......shouldn't have changed directors
70's Commented By: Harker Studios on 2008-09-18 16:19:31 It seems better suited if it were attached to a Roger Moore Bond in the 70's
70's Commented By: Harker on 2008-09-18 16:20:35 It seems better suited if it were attached to a Roger Moore Bond in the 70's
This song is pretty good Commented By: J.J. on 2008-09-18 16:51:09 I think the song is good. Best Bond song since "A View To A Kill"
Liam Whiteley Commented By: liam on 2008-09-18 19:45:05 Love it. Jack white could sing to me any day
WTF???? on 2008-09-18 19:47:04 what a crap song!!! worst one so far!!!
Oh dear on 2008-09-18 20:01:30 As much as i don't care for Amy Wine-house i do think she has a great voice (when sober) and would have bought 'james bond theme class' back if she had written and sung the theme tune. This just doesn't really sound like a bond theme tune, even if it is the revamped bond.
Robert Hamer Commented By: Bardego on 2008-09-18 20:32:41 It starts off great, and it contains shades of brilliance, but the song itself doesn't sound homogenous. If it was *just* Jack White or *just* Alicia Keyes it might have worked, but the final product ends up a fascinating trainwreck.
REALLY ?? Commented By: Fontez on 2008-09-18 21:37:05 I'm a Musician myself and a huge fan of both Jack White and Alicia Keys. I think it's amazingly well written, both instrumentally and lyrically. It's Jack White's raw, indie rock flavor, incorporated with jazz influences to perfectly reference the tone and melody of the Bond theme. It fits together perfectly. Once again just like "You Know My Name" I'm sure it'll take some getting used to.

That sucks..... on 2008-09-18 22:54:07 Es muy triste cuando dos artistas aprentemente talentosas hacen una mierda deste calor....ayayayay
Badass Bond on 2008-09-19 00:49:48 It's weird, And it's not nearly as good as You Know My Name, Which was one of the best Bond themes ever. It is better than the terrible Die Another Day though...
It does have a feel of a Bond theme though, A modern one, But still a Bond theme.
ok on 2008-09-19 00:52:01 its ok tune. not a fan of lyrics. beat is james bondy

Cornflake Girl Commented By: Mr. BabyMan on 2008-09-19 03:33:53 Sounds like Tori Amos' "Cornflake Girl", particularly the part that goes,
"And the man with the golden gun thinks he knows so much
Thinks he knows so much"
want Commented By: kevin on 2008-09-19 05:00:16 I like this Bond, he's ruthless

Uneven Commented By: Joseph on 2008-09-19 05:28:12 There are some good moments in that song, but they are outnumbered by the bad. The orchestration and the samples are simply terrible. Too bad, because I really like The White Stripes and Alicia Keys.
Like it on 2008-09-19 05:29:38 but maybe that is because i really like the white stripes, I will make the final call when i see the sequence that goes with it
Like it Commented By: Spencer on 2008-09-19 05:30:04 but maybe that is because i really like the white stripes, I will make the final call when i see the sequence that goes with it

? weird on 2008-09-19 07:44:56 Thought this song sounded weird though fitted with the james bond theme. Jack white should definetly do somthing solo after this!
antmansbigxmas on 2008-09-19 08:19:25 The beginning riffs kinda sound like the poppy 60's songs, but Alicia Key's vocals make it sound like soul or R&B, which is kinda strange. Also, the sporadic short riffs throughout the song is weird. The chorus is really good though.
Nah... Commented By: Alfonso on 2008-09-19 08:44:23 its definitely not as good as Chris Cornell's "You Know My Name." Its just a little weird. And I'm a big fan of both Alicia Keys and the White Stripes. I don't think it fits James Bond that much. It does as far as the instrumentals, but its not as good as previous songs.
it might grow on me Commented By: woo007 on 2008-09-19 09:08:10 not very keen on it to be honest but after a few more plays it might grow on me
on 2008-09-19 09:30:57 This is horrid...
Meh... Commented By: Tom on 2008-09-19 09:38:53 Not even close to "You know my name"
www.TalkRadioX.com Commented By: Intern Jessica on 2008-09-19 09:55:36 Are you all Kidding me?! This song is kick @$$! From the second I heard it I was like, Ho - Lee Crap. It takes the Chris Cornell song and it beats it to a bloody pulp and then swallows it whole. This is an amazing song and it makes me excited for the credit sequence for Quantum!
OhOhMyGod! Commented By: Doubleohseven on 2008-09-19 10:26:47 NOT EVEN CLOSE?! As worse as You Know My Name!
I like it... Commented By: bob10101 on 2008-09-19 11:28:18 ... I'm not saying you'll hear me bumpin' in my ride, or anything. It'll do the job though, which is to introduce a James Bond movie. Especially if they do the visuals right this time (as opposed to the intro for Casino Royale which totally sucked).
How... Commented By: Jaybee on 2008-09-19 11:50:10 I find it hard to believe that they had so much to work with (eg. Alicia Keys and Jack White) and managed to fail so hard. The song has no backbone, no body, no semblance of the James Bond "feel"... this insults mediocrity.
not bad Commented By: Saifblade on 2008-09-19 12:02:55 I like this song, its got a Bond feel but a modern twist on it. It might not be amazing, but it's unique.
Eh Commented By: Maxtribe666 on 2008-09-19 13:18:54 I like Jack White. I just don't think this is going to work for the "Theme." Maybe at the end credits. I still like the song but I hope they go in a different theme direction.
WOW Commented By: krisssie on 2008-09-19 13:26:52 its actually alright i like its as good as you know my name and live and let die in my opinion its good
on 2008-09-19 13:40:38 I don't like it. It's way too light for a James Bond theme. Needs to be darker/more secretive sounding...
Ewwww.... Commented By: Alexandra! on 2008-09-19 14:25:30 It doesn't exactly scream James Bond Does it? Bond is a classic and therefore the music should be worthy of it! This isn't! Bring back Shirley Bassey! She knows how to sing 'em!!
This is terrible Commented By: Crayon on 2008-09-19 15:18:39 We expect more from a precusor leading to the continuing high octane adventures of Bond. Change the song.
What a load of crap Commented By: Oso on 2008-09-19 15:49:04 This was just crap. We dobt like. No no no.
Oh god . . on 2008-09-19 17:15:29 Hideous.
you guys are idiots Commented By: Nick on 2008-09-19 18:18:45 this might no tbe the best one but damn its good! you havent even seen it with the sequence yet? you all are retarted and a need to stop agreeing with everyone else. actually listen and its totally james bond! Dumb,Dumb,Dumb people. id like to see you make a better song!
Dear God, why? Commented By: Mac on 2008-09-19 19:46:10 This is a musical abortion. Especially considering that I think the two of them are actually talented in there respective genres.
Overproduced drivel.
omg Commented By: chris wilson on 2008-09-19 21:44:58 who the hell authorised this crap ... comon its bond eager watching loads of fun and decent film at the end of it this i just wana buy a decent pair of ear plugs (the sceenies better be better for it)
Commented By: Ernie Oporto on 2008-09-19 23:49:39 NO WANT!!!!
It is dark and cool Commented By: MD on 2008-09-20 01:06:54 I think it is bond. Shows How it evolved from years ago. Modern Bond feel, I could see 007 kicking ass to this no problem.
Come on on 2008-09-20 02:11:06 How does no one like this song, one of the best beat going for any 007 movie going, you cant compare you know my name to this because there completly different songs so everyone shut up and enjoy two great musicians doing what they do best
What the ....? Commented By: John Doe on 2008-09-20 05:27:32 Excuse me, but this is not a song for a Bondfilm! Perhaps it would work for a TripleX movie or some american ghetto gangster movie - but hey, we are talking about James Bond! Ok, Daniel Craig is harder than any other Bond but he's still british and sophisticated.
Nice on 2008-09-20 09:29:19 Just the fact that Jack White is in this song makes it an instant classic.
WOW... Commented By: Concerned on 2008-09-20 11:05:36 s-h-i-t-o-l-a never smelled so bad as this track
sounds. Thanks for the CRAP!
Total Crap. Commented By: Yikes on 2008-09-20 11:07:13 I cut open a turd, and this sound came out.
Like it! on 2008-09-20 13:06:04 This is certainly not a 'typical' Bond song but I reckon it fits well with Daniel Craig's Bond - modern, edgy and unpredictable. This is exactly what is needed to keep the franchise going into the 21st century!
Ugh. Terrible. on 2008-09-20 21:12:12 Jack White why does Jack White have to ruin everything? Loretta Lynn, garage rock, James Bond...
Commented By: unknownsoldier13 on 2008-09-21 02:13:08 Who cares! Do you really give a shit about the music that plays before a Bond movie.AS long as th emovies is decent I could give a shit about the song.
on 2008-09-21 12:48:41 maybe a good song but definetly NOT a bond song
eeh on 2008-09-21 20:58:03 it seems like it would've been better without alicia keys-she just doesnt seem to fit in here
Love it! Commented By: Michael on 2008-09-21 23:06:57 Man there are a lot of cynical F***s out there. With so much hype from people who are looking for the "genius" of the old days (people who weren't even alive at the time of those songs releases) NO SONG will EVER live up to expectations. But what REALLY pisses me off is that the same “bond fans†that over-hype the release of each new song do so, just to tear it down; because nothing will ever be good enough for them because THEY are the “biggest Bond fan ever†and THEY know what is best and THEY know what a good Bond song is. It's a good song from two people I otherwise don't care for their music a ton. I'm a die hard Bond fan and LOVE the new song!
Oy! What a headache Commented By: Rob Lindsay on 2008-09-22 04:10:48 That *is* pretty bad. I don't know what's the worst thing about this song: The rambling, incomprehensible lyrics, the screeching guitar riffs by White, or Alicia Keys' "cats howling on a backyard fence" rendition of the song.
This one stands out as one of the three worst Bond themes of all time. (The other two are "Live and Let Die" and "The Living Daylights.")
might as well be a hot bag of barf on 2008-09-22 12:36:00 very disappointing
halfway through this one on 2008-09-22 12:37:44 it had me begging for a Quantum of Silence, ZING
Oh Dear... Commented By: Tommo on 2008-09-23 17:38:10 What a crappy song. How disappointing. That is without doubt one of the worst ever Bond songs.
Spot on on 2008-09-23 20:17:58 Q:Can you imagine this on a Bourne film?
A:Yes
Exactly. The Bond franchise got a long overdue kick up the arse from Mr. Jason Bourne - Bond surfing a tidal wave anyone? Invisible car?
So, this song may not fit Roger Moore, George Lazenby, Timmy Dalton or Brosnan, but it sure as hell fits Daniel Craig.
Remember Live & Let Die? Not exactly Shirley Bassey either, but now a complete classic Bond Theme. I think the likes of Aha, Duran Duran and Madonna have made much duller, weaker attempts than this.
Well done Bond for having the balls to try something a little less mainstream and safe.
WTF????? Commented By: Steve Burke on 2008-09-24 15:02:53 Listening to this S***E is definitely another way to die!!!!

garbage Commented By: Stewie on 2008-09-25 16:37:31 as big as a white stripes and alicia fan i am, this song is horseshit. i didn't like the song. the sound was funky and rockish like a james bond song, but this is just full fledged garbage. i HATE it! it's terrible.
Well... Commented By: TAG on 2008-09-25 22:33:36 It's not bad. There are two things I don't like about it:
1) The words to the refrain is much too random.
2) I don't like how Alicia makes those retarded moaning sounds right before "Another girl with her finger on the world..."
Hopefully, the opening sequence will make the song better.
Obviously, "You Kknow My Name" by Chris Cornell is much superior

No good Commented By: Fede on 2008-09-26 03:27:16 Jack White is not up for a Bond song, Alicia Keys sounds weird, I think Elton John or George Michael could have done a better job. This song dosent have a soul like Goldeneye or you know my name, the problem is that the song dosent make you feel anything, and also the artists dont feel either. When you hear you know my name, you know Criss Cornell its giving you a piece of his soul, and I just dont feel this with any of these artists
Deno Commented By: Deno on 2008-09-26 10:54:46 Bring back John Barry
epic on 2008-09-29 13:38:59 this thing freakin kicks ass, now just replace Alicia keys with Cedric Bixler and we'd have the greatest collaboration. ever.
not to mention greatest bond theme song ever.

Great Song Commented By: Vin on 2008-09-30 09:59:53 Jack White is a music genius. Thank God none of you are musicians because you people just don't know music, and you state this song is sh*t as if it's fact, as if your ignorant opinions mean anything.
There's a reason White's a grammy award winning artist and producer.
Great song.
What? Commented By: TL on 2008-09-30 18:56:14 Terrible. Not the worst theme ever, but it's close.
And no, Jack White isn't a musical genius, he's a hack. I say this as a musician, music fan, and Bond film fan.
Okay... Commented By: TheoryMajor on 2008-09-30 22:37:17 In a music theory sense, the song works. I love White and I can appriciate the music of Keys, but they don't work well together. Their voices don't compliment one another's. Otherwise the song is fantastic, White just needs to find himself another recording partner.
Kicks ass Commented By: Josh the Ripper on 2008-09-30 23:44:57 I see alot of negative feedback and I dont know what that is about??? This song kicks ass! I never thought Jack would get together with Alicia Keys, but thats what you get when you build an Indie empire and than get signed to a major record label with ownership to all recording rights, like Warner cuz thats what Mr.Jack did. He is a smart business man and he does what he loves. Creates. He has also used his success to help dozens of bands and artists get there careers going. Ask Loretta Lynn herself, she will tell you that he is a perfect example of a gentleman and a good example in the mainstream for our youth and teens, which is hard to come by these days. So honestly if his music is so shit that he is more succesful than alot of us musicians may ever be, than go shove it cuz so many more of us enjoy the gifts he bears to our ears.
ohohseven Commented By: John Martin Stevens on 2008-10-01 10:35:37 Hmm, well it's different. Can't say it's my style I certainly won't buy it but hey it's a film title track so a few softly lit semi naked bond girls and some cgi and who knows?

The David Arnold version will work. Commented By: Cav on 2008-10-05 12:53:46 I wonder if anyone's paying attention to how the theme's going to be used in the film - the David Arnold instrumental version of it. While I'm not a fan of the song itself lyrically, I'm loving some of the melodies. The music from 2:18 on will probably be the action theme. That's what I'm looking forward to hearing, and I think that will work. This version's rather forgettable (what were they thinking?), but the DA one should be fine.

Don't pay out on something you don't fully understand.
I mean, its not my favorite song and it probably wont be, but i appreciate it for what it is.
SUCKS! Commented By: Andrea on 2008-10-24 16:11:34 This bites. I'm so disapointed. It needs to be darker. This is the worst bond song ever.
not a bond theme Commented By: ashley on 2008-10-26 04:03:20 this just isn't a bond theme - regardless of whether I think it's good or not. there's no passion and mix aof styles is awful. we need people to write songs who undertsand what bond means - it's not *just* another action movie series.
