IFC Nabs Horror Comedy Dead Snow IFC Films, one of the leading American distributors for independent and foreign films, announced today at the Sundance Film Festival it has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Dead Snow, a genre-bending Norweigan horror comedy. Written and directed by Tommy Wirkola, the film is the follow up to his critically acclaimed 2007 feature film debut Kill Buljo: The Movie. Dead Snow premiered at Sundance this week in the Narrative International Feature section and the film is already receiving strong advance buzz from select genre press including Ain't It Cool News' Harry Knowles.

IFC Films' Arianna Bocco negotiated the deal with Adeline Fontan Tessaur and Eva Diederix at Elle Driver.

Dead Snow tells the story of a group of co-ed medical students who go on holiday to Oksfjord, a picturesque snowy oasis that promises plenty of skiing and relaxing away from civilization. Unfortunately, these vacationers aren't aware that the area is plagued by a legion of evil Nazis who were chased into the nearby mountains at the end of World War II, now returning to get their revenge as ruthless, hungry zombies. A tongue-in-cheek Nazi-zombie-splatter-comedy, the young ensemble cast of Dead Snow includes Vegar Hoel, Stig Frode Henriksen and Charlotte Froegner. The film was produced by Tomas Evjen, Ankjetil Omberg and Terje Stromstad.

In addition to the U.S. deal, Elle Driver announced the sale of the film to various foreign territories including Germany (Splendid), Benelux (also Splendid), the U.K. (Entertainment One) and Canada (Seville). Additional foreign territory deals are expected to be announced soon.

Said Adeline Fontan Tessaur and Eva Diederix of Elle Driver "We are very excited to be working with IFC Films and the other international distributors on the release of this highly entertaining genre bending film. We can't wait for audiences around the world to have the opportunity to see it and share in the fun!"
