It's The Chronic, What? Cles of Captain America

From the trades:

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are in negotiations to pen Marvel Studios' "First Avenger: Captain America." The dealmaking occurs about a week after Joe Johnston boarded the project as director.

Marvel's Kevin Feige is producing.

Created in 1941 by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon for Timely Comics, Captain America is the heroic alter ego of Steve Rogers, who is rejected by the Army for being too sickly and undergoes an experiment that takes him to the pinnacle of human form. Paired with an indestructible shield, he becomes a symbol of the war effort, fighting Nazis and villainous scientists like the Red Skull.

In modern times, the character starred in his own long-running comic series and also was a charter member of Marvel's superteam, the Avengers.

Kicking off with "Iron Man," Marvel Studios' slate of movies -- including "Thor" and the "Iron Man" sequel -- is building toward an "Avengers" movie set for release in 2011, in which the characters from the films team for one big adventure. "Captain America" is scheduled for release May 6, 2011.

Marvel's "Captain America" will be a World War II-set movie, and the character will appear in the modern day-set "Avengers."

Markus and McFeely, repped by UTA, worked on "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" and its sequel, "Prince Caspian." The duo also wrote HBO's "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers."

Oh! I just realized Cap's shield is used to deflect bullets. I always wondered why he carried that wok around.

Good to hear the WW2 aspect will be intact and not through flashbacks.. thats the right direction for this flick.. the old suit and shield.. and Bucky dying at the end with cap frozen in the ice..Hulk breaking the glacier scene in the new avengers flick coming out and this shit's starting to come together....... Hope they give it a cold look to the film in means of color and make cap's blue suit stand out more than the surrounding colors of the film(did that make sense?) kinda like the spirit looks.....

If Cap is America's number one super-agent, why does he wear blue again? Shouldn't he be wearing some splinter-cell outfit? Or a solid snake outfit? or, you know.. something dark?

Never really cared about Captain America as a character until I read Ed Brubaker's stint writing the character when it crossed over with Marvel's whole Civil War saga. Excellent stuff, and explains the character really well while telling a cool story.
this should kick @$$

I've been mulling this around for sometime. In fact after seeing Band of Brothers in 2001 I thought Neal McDonough (Buck Compton) would have been a great Cap, but now and especially when they film the movie he'll be a bit too old. So it was back to the drawing board. I was watching Return of the King last night and it hit me, Karl Urban would be a baddass Cap, being 36 he's probably too old also, but I think he could pull off a late 20's Cap with the right make-up and lets face it we don't want to see Rodgers, we want to see Captain America so I don't think his age is that big of a deal.
