According to the Dailymail:Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp will pick up a staggering £32million for starring in a fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean film. And it's the highest up-front pay-cheque in showbiz history. If you use a currency exchange from British Pounds to American Dollars that's:

$56 million fucking dollars to play a pirate. I mean, the guy and his great great great great grandkids are set for life, he's getting $56 million for one film? I'm currently in Vegas and I'm pissed that my ATM withdrawal limit is $300 a day. Now I just want to get to the top of the Stratosphere and jump off.

Hey, he get's the chicks in the theatre. Can't hate. My friend hung out in a theatre when Pirates 3 came out back then and picked up four girls. No lie. LOL. Anyways, I wonder what he will want to play the Riddler? Stakes are high now fellas!!!

Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise didn't get upfront salaries on those ones. They took a cut of the box office gross, merchandising and stuff like that. Most of the money they made on those movies was made after the movies were released. Johnny Depp is making 56 million UPFRONT, which is a staggering amount of money.

You know Jack Nicholson made 80million on Batman, and Tom Cruise made 100million on war of the worlds, right? Didn't Bruce Willis just get paid 30million for Die Hard 4? And those films combined didn't come close to what Pirates has earned. Depp carried those giant films... and despite their spectacle, he's a big reason to thank for their success.
