Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp will pick up a staggering £32million for starring in a fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean film.
And it's the highest up-front pay-cheque in showbiz history.
The huge pay-day eclipses Tom Hanks' £29million salary for DaVinci Code follow-up Angels And Demons.

So...let me get this straight....The economy is in the crapper....Wallstreet has basically collapsed....and yet here's Johnny Depp, making almost 60 friggen million dollars to make another pirates sequel....crazyness.
I mean I like Johnny Depp, don't get me wrong, he seems like a cool guy and I like most of his movies....but jeeze..

think about it though, the first three has made disney welllllll over a billion dollars. in large part because of him as the star and how well he acts. so with that said doesn't he warrant such a salary?

You know Jack Nicholson made 80million on Batman, and Tom Cruise made 100million on war of the worlds, right? Didn't Bruce Willis just get paid 30million for Die Hard 4? And those films combined didn't come close to what Pirates has earned. Depp carried those giant films... and despite their spectacle, he's a big reason to thank for their success.

Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise didn't get upfront salaries on those ones. They took a cut of the box office gross, merchandising and stuff like that. Most of the money they made on those movies was made after the movies were released. Johnny Depp is making 56 million UPFRONT, which is a staggering amount of money.

Hey, he get's the chicks in the theatre. Can't hate. My friend hung out in a theatre when Pirates 3 came out back then and picked up four girls. No lie. LOL. Anyways, I wonder what he will want to play the Riddler? Stakes are high now fellas!!!
