Justin Timberlake's Rumored Green Lantern Audition

Harry from Ain't It Cool News has stuck his neck out with an unconfirmed rumor that is a glass bottle and some gasoline away from inciting a molotov cocktail riot amongst people who are genuinely fans of The Green Lantern.
Hal Jordan did not bring SexyBack. The Green Latern was never in N*Sync.
The rumor - thankfully still unconfirmed by Leavesden Studios - is that Warner Bros. has brought Justin Timberlake (of Alpha Dog acting wise and from the music you bang your one-night-stands to otherwise) in for a Green Lantern screen test. "Suiting up," says the report, suggesting that Timberlake is after the lead.
On one hand, this is the sort of part that could rocket a yet-untested actor to the forefront of the A-List. This is the dream of the character man, the B-lister, the big dreamer.
On the other, much larger and dominating hand: IT'S JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE. Hanging out around the Saturday Night Live studio instead of making the third solo album we actually want from you does not constitute range or working on your craft.
No personal offense to the guy, his HBO Special is still one of my drunk guilty pleasures, but why, why, oh why would they even consider making him The Green Lantern?
