Making Up With Iron Man

There are many superhero movies in the world that have fanboys rolling their eyes and asking the question, "Couldn't they have gotten a better script?" However it remains to be seen how much of Arthur Marcum and Matt Halloway's (followed by Mark Fergus and then Hawk Ostby) dialogue makes it into the film as word has gotten out that director Jon Favreau (Elf, Zathura) is allowing his stars to improv on the set of Iron Man.
"We’re doing a lot of improvisation in ‘Iron Man’ to discover scenes and get off the written page and doing a lot of work like that,” says actor Jeff Bridges who is playing the part of Obadiah Stane. “I know Jon is very interested in grounding it as much in reality as he possibly can. The suit for instance, the first suit, it looks like, ‘Oh yeah, maybe that could happen.’ It’s all possible.”
Whether the banter between stars Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard, and Gwyneth Paltrow becomes better or worse is anyone's guess at this point. However having Favreau on set to direct, who has written classic dialogue in such films like Swingers and Made, could curb the lines from becoming way too cheesy. The final result will have to wait until summer 2008 to be seen.
What about Bridges playing Stane, who also becomes the villianous Iron Monger in the Marvel comic book? Will Bridges be playing not just mentor to Downey's Tony Stark/Iron Man but play the villain as well? That remains to be seen. Bridges says on this, "I might. But on the other hand I don't want to spoil it for viewers."
