Yesterday it was annouced that The First Avenger: Captain America will hit theater May 2011 followed QUICKLY be The Avengers movie in July 2011. Everyone let out a collective geeky HUZZAH!
Well that's yesterday so that's already old news.
Already rumors are abound that Matthew McConaughey is being considered for America's First Son.
AND I SAY GOOD. McMatty has the looks, the swagger, the build, and the ability to easily pull off a role. It's not a role he needs to play but should love to do it. We could get a 'new actor' to fill the role but after seeing Iron Man and how they cast to type - I say make a film that is starring someone we love, get a great script, and let's have fun. Marvel Studios did a phenom job in letting Jon Favreau do what he wanted for Iron Man so ... we'll cross the fingers.
Created in 1941 Captain America helped fight the Nazis back in World War II. He showed back up in the Marvel Universe in the sixties when his body was found trapped in ice. Dethawed he joined the Avengers, eventually getting his comic book, and has gone on to be the loyal freedom fighter. Well, until he was killed off in his comic book last year.
Anywho McMatty's southern accent, charm, and acting ability could be a great thing for Captain America so let's hope this rumor might actually become fact.
