Meet Eddie Murphy's Head in New York
By Ron Henriques on July 3, 2008

The people at Fox have come up with a hilarious yet clever promotion for the new Eddie Murphy comedy,
"Meet Dave." For you folks in New York, from July 3-5, a three ton replica of Murphy's head (complete with trademark grin) that's been touring the country will be on display on Military Island in Times Square. For no price at all, anyone can get a "head" start on their summer fun by stepping inside of the fifteen foot tall replica and having your photo taken as you lean out of Eddie's left ear just like in the movie.
Not only are they giving away free passes for a private screening for next week, but everyone is joining in on the fun including the infamous Naked Cowboy (who stuck his underwear clad butt out of the ear), but myself included. A little warm and dark in there, but "getting inside" of Eddie's head was a blast, though I'm sorry to say I didn't find out if he's going to make "Beverly Hills Cop 4"! In fact it's very. very dark in there.
In the film, opening in theaters everywhere on July 11, Dave Ming Chang (Eddie Murphy), newly arrived in New York City, may be the ultimate fish out of water. There's something about him that's not quite right – for starters, he seems remarkably out of place and uncomfortable in his own body. And for good reason: "Dave" is not a man at all, but a ship made in the image of its miniature-sized captain. It's Eddie Murphy in Eddie Murphy in "Meet Dave".
MEET DAVE OPENS IN THEATERS JULY 11.
