More Punisher 2 News

We told you that Lexi Alexander is directing it. We told you first that Ray Stevenson is starring in it. Now Lionsgate has furnished the world with some more information on The Punisher 2!
The newest Punisher film will aim for an R-Rating, was written by Nick Santora, Kurt Sutter, Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, and produced by Gale Anne Hurd, Kevin Feige, and Avi Arad. MHF Zweite Academy Film is financing.
"Ray was the first name I wrote down after I saw 'Rome,' because he managed to keep the audience caring about him despite being the most violent guy," said Feige, Marvel Studios' President of Production.
Stevenson becomes the third man to become The Punisher/Frank Castle - the man who hunts down criminals following the murder of his family to a mafioso. Dolph Lundgren was the first in the 1989 film that was never released commercially in the United States. Thomas Jane headed the 2004 flick which saw the Punisher killing off mobster John Travolta in Florida.
New York is Punisher's stomping ground in the comics and fans will be glad to hear that the new film will be set in New York, where, according to Lionsgate, Castle runs up against a mobster.
Latino Review is still glad to point out that the bad guy is still Jigsaw.
Shooting starts this October in Canada. Hopefully they don't film where Jackie Chan shot Rumble in the Bronx. New York City isn't very convincing with mountains in the background.
