New from TriStar Pictures is Planet 51, an adorable looking CGI film that takes the usual sci-fi cliches and turns them on their heads.
Instead of watching an average American family attempt to hide an alien visitor while working to get him home, Planet 51 starts on an alien world that's a shout-out to the 50s settings of many a sci-fi film. The family, voiced by the likes of Jessica Biel and Justin Long, is visited by an astronaut from our world (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) who at first thinks he's the first person to ever visit the elusive Planet 51.
What follows could be a paint-by-numbers alien movie -- only with a human astronaut as the so-called alien -- or it could be a fun send-off of the genre. We won't find out until November 20, but in the meantime there's this extended clip from Yahoo! to entertain you.
There movie even has a nod to the iconic bike scene in E.T.. Sure, nearly every other movie in its existence has its own version, but it never gets old.
