Poltergeist Remake Has Writers
By Edgar 'El Toro' Arce on August 19, 2008

“Walk into the light!!” that must be what executives were told when they agreed to this one. Poltergeist, according to the trades is going to be remade. The only question I have for the spirit world is why? Apparently the two writers of “The Boogeyman” Juliet Snowden and Stiles White are going to be vandalizing this classic.
I wish the studios would give new writers a chance to come up with more original ideas and stop with remaking the classics. I saw the boogeyman and believe me, if they do to Poltergeist what they did to Boogeyman; we all have much to be afraid of!
The original "Poltergeist," directed by Tobe Hooper from a script co-written by Steven Spielberg, miraculously skirted an R rating despite its children-in-constant-peril, toy clown-strangling, face-peeling, skeleton-swimming medley of horrors. The MGM/UA release grossed $122 million worldwide and earned Oscar nominations for its ILM-designed visual effects, sound effects and score.

Hollywood must be out of ideas. Honesty, This is how your average studio meeting must go down "Hey guys, got any new ideas? Na were stuck man, we aint got nuthin, lets just remake some old popular movie and talk alot of bullshit how we can do it far much better because we got CGI" "Oh ok, better then nothing, lets do it. Here is 200 million dollars" its truly amazing. Hollywood is so strapped for ideas, they gota gold mind there own previous sucessful films, just to make a buck now adays. Im all for old trilogies, stories etc returning to the big screen as if you were going to Conclude there stories once and for all, like Rocky Balboa did, but, you cant just remake every 20-30 year old film that ever brought u a buck and expect the audiance not to hate you

Poltergeist is one of my al time favorite movies. So when I read that they are going to remake it I was a little sick. It seems that studios don't feel like taking chances anymore and are remaking everything. The sad thing is their not going to even try that hard to remake it if they are giving the script writting to the people that brought us the Bogeyman. I bet that they give the directing job to Brett Ratner. These people make me sick.

Maybe Tobe Hooper could get a second shot at actually directing this one instead of Spielberg calling the shots over his shoulder. (Remakes suck.)
