Punisher Producer Talks Hulk, Captain America And Alien Nation
By George 'El Guapo' Roush on October 24, 2008
With the Marvel universe now exploding onto movie screens, it's big business to make sure the future movies coming out are going to tie in correctly, and also not suck. The not sucking part is probably more important.

The tree huggers over at UGO talked with producer Gale Anne Hurd about The Punisher, Hulk, Captain America, The Avengers, Alien Nation and a whole host of other stuff including new super hero stories she wants to bring to the front lines. Here's an excerpt:

UGO: There is the rumored Captain America spotting in the ice in the
alternate opening scene of The Hulk.  I had read that you said he's not
in that.

GAH: No, he's not in there.  I guess it's semantics, really.

UGO: Everyone thinks they see him.

GAH: Ok.

UGO: So is Edward Norton going to be back as the Hulk?

GAH: You know, at this point we'll see what happens.  I think the next
focus for Marvel is an Avengers movie as opposed to a solo Hulk movie,
so that will be part of the Marvel/Avengers universe.

UGO: Ah.

GAH: By the way, when I was talking about Captain America, it was with
respect to the movie, not the DVD.  We were talking about it being in
the movie very early on.  I think that's also where the confusion came
from.

UGO:
So there's no word about him coming back to reprise his role even
in the Avengers, say as a villain?

GAH: No, that's an entirely new movie.  So many things have to fall into
place, schedules, script, director, all of those things.

UGO: Were there any particular challenges in bringing back The Hulk, and
bring back something that's already been done?

GAH: You know, there is a precedent for this, obviously.  Batman.  There
have been so many interpretations of Batman.  I think it's always a
challenge.  But the important thing, and I think it's part of that
franchise as well, is taking the feedback from the fans and from general
audiences.  How can we make this experience even more rewarding for
cinema-goers?

UGO:
Speaking of remakes like The Hulk and Punisher...is there another
film that you've done that you'd like to see remade?

GAH: Let's see.  I'd love to do a new Alien Nation.  That was one of my
favorite films that I've produced.

What's interesting is her statement on Captain America not being in the movie. But then she says she was talking about the theatrical release, not the DVD. I don't know, the whole thing is too confusing now...

The woman sounds like she has a rod up her arse, and has no respect for, the source material or the fans. What kinda arsey pedantic answer is 'i was talking about the theatrical release' sounds like a real bitch, out of her depth, who could give a fuck about Marvel and the fans.
GODZILLA
