While doing the rounds for the movie The Rocker today, Rainn Wilson talked a little about everything regarding his influences when it came to making the 80s glam rock drummer, turned you tube phenom, Robert “Fish” Fishman. He mentioned how his favorites when it came to rock were Queen and Rush, stating that drummers seem to always be the odd man when it comes to having a band. “There does need to always have to be some sort of idiocy when it comes to being a drummer.”

Wilson also talked about his upcoming role in Transformers 2 saying that his role would be small. “It’s a small cameo; it’ll just be a couple of days on set.”  He jokingly continued that he would be playing a robot that doesn’t turn into a car but turns into a professor leading to a life of blandness.

Wilson also talked about Bonzai Shadowhands saying that he is still working on it in his spare time of which he has a lot of right now due to the SAG strike.  He said he’s handed in a first draft to Jason Rietman and they’re pretty excited about working on the second draft soon.
The Rocker tells the story of a failed drummer who is given a second chance at fame. Robert "Fish" Fishman is the extremely dedicated and astoundingly passionate drummer for the eighties hair band Vesuvius, who is living the rock n' roll dream until he is unceremoniously kicked out of the band. Twenty years after his rock star fantasies are destroyed, just when Fish has finally given up all hope, he hears that his nephew's high school rock band A.D.D. is looking for a new drummer. They reluctantly make him the newest member of the band, giving him a chance to reclaim the rock God throne he's always thought he deserved, and taking the young band along for the ride of their lives
