Routh on Superman, JLA, Vs. Batman

Reddit

By Ryan 'The Rican with the Irish name' McLelland on April 29, 2008

I love most of El Guapo's reviews including this one on Iron Man - though it makes me think about how the man reviews films.  He talks in the review how Iron Man is only the second time he has given a film an A+ - the first being Superman Returns.

I, on the other hand, sat there with my best friend rolling in the seat yelling, "COME THE FRAK ON" and not believing how completely shitty Superman Returns was.  The very weird Superman looks, stalker Superman, ugly Superman-spawn, the return of another Lex Luthor not being the villain he could be and hanging out with a bunch of idiots, the only good action piece being the airplane in the beginning, et cetra, et cetra, et cetra.  I threw things at the screen.  I'm not joking...someone at AMC must have been cursing at me when they had to clean that badboy up.

Regardless I am still looking forward to a sequel.  I know Bryan Singer can make a good movie.  I know he can make a good superhero movie.  Here's fingers crossed he can finally introduce to the movie going public some (gasp) NEW Superman villains while possibly making Lex Luthor the billionaire genius he is in the Superman comics (or The Animated Series - nicely voiced by Clancy Brown).

Brandon Routh hasn't exactly become the biggest star after Superman Returns but he did ground himself with the drama Lie To Me and then looks to start Dylan Dog (shout out to my Platinum Studios peeps) based on the European comic and then Superman: Man of Steel.

Coming Soon had an interview with Routh which has some CHOICE Routh answers including:

On Superman: Man of Steel filming, "I expect that we'll be working early next year. I know that Bryan [Singer] has pretty much finished out "Valkyrie" and is back in the states and is zeroing in on the story that he wants to tell. Once that arrives it's going to move pretty quickly. I think that everybody is getting excited. It's been three years now, really. It's hard to believe that it's been long, but everyone is getting jazzed and ready to go again. I certainly am."

On JLA, "They talked to me about it, yes, but I think someone else asked me if they ever offered me the role and they did not. I'm happy that we're talking about "Man of Steel" again and "Batman" looks great and is coming out and that looks great and I think it's time for those two characters, certainly, to flourish and some of the DC Comic Universe to strike out on their own first and strengthen each character individually and then to go at all of them together."

On a Superman Vs. Batman flick, "I've been asked that question many times and at first, I think I've been quoted as saying that Superman and Batman should never fight each other which makes sense to me. They should be fighting together on the same team, but Christian is certainly a great actor and a very nice guy. I'm excited for the new "Batman." So I'll open up my view because I know that people want to see it and maybe there's a story that could be told that way that makes sense to me. So I won't put it out anymore. I won't say no anymore."

Won't say no anymore...good for you Routh!  We'll get you thinking like a fanboy yet!

There's a TON more great answers so check out the entire interview by clicking right here!
