Stallone Clears Up Rambo V's Plot

Stallone Clears Up Rambo V's Plot UPDATE: Below, when I say the plot sounded more like Rambo versus the savage nature of man, I at least thought it was going to be a MAN.

Which means I might have been mistaken, according to this (also from AICN):

That's three times I thought I'd covered this story only to discover I had virtually no idea what I was reporting on. However, to Stallone's credit, the project does sound more interesting each time we learn more about it.

Though if the name "Shia" gets anywhere near the part of Beau Brady, I might have to redact myself.

Original post:

When news of Rambo V was first announced, I was pretty confused by the plot described in the trades about John Rambo fighting stereotypical Mexican drug cartels and human traffickers. It seemed lazy, like something we'd seen before and it sounded like it would end the Rambo series with a fart-like pffft instead of a bang.

I'm very glad that the trades were just guessing and presenting said guess as fact. The true plot for Rambo V seems to involve a little more nuance and thought than the original lies.

You see, it is set in the Pacific Northwest. Back in the general area where we first were introduced to John. It seems that somewhere in that Area there is a U.S. Military installation that is doing experiments on elite soldiers as part of some sort of program where they're attempting to tap into that SAVAGERY that we have deeply embedded into us. The plan is create brilliantly instinctual killer soldiers that have no qualms about taking life.
[...]
Well as happens with Government Experiments to create the perfect killer - it goes exceptionally well... and then exceptionally badly. And Rambo is brought in with a Black Ops squad ("Like in PREDATOR") to hunt, capture or kill this worse than Rambo killer.

This time, our plot comes directly from the horse's mouth, Mr. Sylvester Stallone. There's a voicemail he left for Harry Knowles of AICN claiming that this isn't Rambo versus some Universal Soldier, it's Rambo vs the instintual killer that has always been inside Rambo. Rambo vs the savage nature of man.

That doesn't sound that bad. Loads better than Rambo V. Mexicans.

It's being called Rambo V: The Savage Hunt and someone's photoshopped up a teaser poster that is supposedly up in Toronto for the International Film Festival.
