Stan Winston Talks Iron Man

By Steve Chupnick on August 4, 2007

So we all know Stan Winston is the master when it comes to make-up and special effects in the movies. And he’s continuing his success with the big screen adaptation of Iron Man.

While talking about his newest project, the werewolf horror Skinwalkers, Stan gave up a little information on his work on the Iron Man suits, saying “I have never been so jazzed about anything! Creating that suit legitimizes its comic book basis. Iron Man is something I’m so proud of, and it’s nothing about designing it for Robert Downey Jr.; it was designing it so Robert Downey Jr. could get in it. But it had to look like Iron Man, which is a suit, which is supposed to be a suit, and not pretending to be anything else. Therefore, you design the suit to look like the real version of a comic book which you’ve been in love with. And that’s what we did and it’s freakin’ brilliant! They’re beautiful!”

Iron Man is currently in post-production, and is set for release May 2, 2008.

Skinwalkers hits theaters August 10th.
