Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Not Strong Enough To Direct Green Hornet.
By George 'El Guapo' Roush on December 19, 2008
Clashing over creative differences, Stephen Chow is no longer directing The Green Hornet:

There's been another change in the "Hornet" nest: Stephen Chow has dropped out as director of "The Green Hornet" but will still play Kato in Columbia Pictures' latest bid to get the crimefighter to the bigscreen.

The studio and producer Neal Moritz are in the process of setting a new director to keep the picture on track to begin production by spring.

The character began on radio in the 1930s and is best known from the '60s TV version. But a bigscreen translation is having a long gestation, going through many incarnations, including as a proposed George Clooney vehicle.

Chow, who directed and starred in "Kung Fu Hustle" and "Shaolin Soccer, signed in September to direct the film and play the role originated in the TV series by "Bruce Lee. He stepped out as director over creative differences.

The film was scripted by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and Rogen is starring as the masked crime fighter. The script will likely be polished, and a director could be in place by year's end.

Creative differences in this case being Stephen probably wanted to make this more of a comedy venture than Rogan had planned. Actually, I doubt if these guys know what direction they want to take this movie in. An action comedy? A serious action movie? Who knows. The two have different styles when it comes to writing comedy, so it was more than likely they couldn't come to an agreement on what the hell it is they want the picture to be. Not that big of a deal since Chow is still in the movie as Kato and I'm sure will be lending his skills to the fighting sequences.

I'm actually wondering if anybody even cares.

Since we're talking about kung fu, let's enjoy this awesome kung fu clip! By the way, all of the sound effects in this clip are of me and my girlfriend having sex, they're not from the actual movie. So enjoy that.

Oh sure, you can get movie news from any 'ol website. But it's so much more fun reading it here.  :)

You'll get a swift kick in the pants unless you

Seth Rogen is a freaking idiot. They are treating Stephen Chow like they treated the late Bruce Lee. Rogen and crew you're an idiot.
Who cares at this point.

Chow has said before in the past he really only likes to direct movies that he has written also. So he probably didn't like the other ideas people were coming up with. I remember he said Fox asked him to direct the Dragonball movie, and he said he turned it down for those reasons. Which was probably just a polite way of saying, I don't want my first American directed film to be a total pile of garbage.
Good!

Rogen is so overexposed, it's pathetic. I hope this delays the film so Green Lantern will be released before this pile of crap Hornet film. Good for Chow to say F U to the studio heads.
