The Hollywood Reporter published an article from Cannes that talked about A-list movie stars performing cameos in films and taking no credit for being in the film, which leads to frustration from producers trying to find film buyers and unable to mention the star is actually in the film.
But by releasing such an article we have been privy to some early information that we wouldn't have known before. This includes the upcoming Ben Stiller film Tropic Thunder in which a group of actors shooting a big budget war picture (which also includes Robert Downey, Jr., Jack Black, and Knocked Up's Jay Baruchel) who, after a series of weird events, end up forced to actually become the soldiers they are playing.
According to the article one of these 'stealth cameos' includes new studio head Tom Cruise a 'despotic studio head'. The cameo is made all the more funnier after Paramount didn't re-up on Cruise's contract which lead Cruise to become the head of United Artists, the studio which Charlie Chaplin started.
Other cameos mentioned in the article include Angelina Jolie in Confessions Of An Action Star and Sam Raimi's daughter as the shutterbug during the ending of Spider-Man 3.
