The Independent has an interview with Kevin Spacey where he talks about acting and theater and how he likes to grab dude's asses.
It's not news that he signed on the dotted line for a sequel to Superman Returns, but I guess filming may start sooner than I thought if this is correct:
That may not go down so well with the producers of the follow-up to Superman Returns, who will be paying him big bucks to reprise his role as Lex Luthor next year. "Well, look. If I'm not producing, then I'm an actor for hire. It ends there. That doesn't mean you're not working with a director and other actors and a writer to make the best movie you can, but it's a temporal experience, you'll be together for a couple of weeks or months and then you're done."
So I guess WB isn't putting it on hold and concentrating on the other heroes, they're going forward with Superman as well. But Lex Luthor? Again? Why? I hope it's a really small role because I'm sick of looking at Lex Luthor as the villain. I think a guy called Superman should be fighting other beings that have, you know, super powers. Just give us Doomsday or Brainiac or Bizarro and be done with it.

Yay! I'm glad to see this continue. I didn't want to see a reboot. We don't need to see another Superman origin story. Time to move on past all that. I too though hope that Luthor is just a minor villain, but I wouldn't want him out of the movie all together. What is a Superman story without Lex Luthor somewhere in the background.
Plus I'm really interested to see what Singer can do. I still remember his, "go wrath of khan on it" comment. He's reintroduced the characters in the manner he wanted to out of respect for Donner, now he should make them his own.

This is utter bull, they are not going to do a superman returns sequel. Robinov was clear the other month that Sr failed and they are going in an all new direction which means reboot.

At one point in the interview, does HE actually, confirm or say that he'll be reprising the role?? It's just lazy ass reporting on the part of The Independant, some twat who ain't done his research. Nob-ed!...
C'mon Latino, is real movie news that thin on the ground that you'll run anything!

Why not use Darkseid as a villain? Someone as smart as Luthor, strong as Superman, and just downright scary!

Fuck Another Origin Story or Reboot!!!

Use Brainiac as the main villian with Lex in the background. Drop the stupid ass Lois/baby story, hell why not keep Lois out of the movie for the most part as well as the Daily Planet. Let's just see Superman kicking the shit out of people and also getting his ass handed to him before finally taking down Brainiac. Save Darkseid for a good JLA movie if one is ever made. He is too great of a character to waste simply against Superman. Show him for the true badass that he is with the League all having to fight him. Use Routh or Welling. Don't cast anyone else as Superman.

reboot

WB has clearly stated that they plan to reboot superman. do a google search on it. it was a pretty well distributed press release. however, that doesn't mean that they won't want to bring kevin spacey back for the reboot. take the goofy donner bullshit out of the character and i think spacey will do a great job. look at seven.

think outside of the box people. you don't need to do an origin story for a reboot. you can use flashbacks and do the job a hell of a lot better w/ a character as well known as superman.

please, please, please... NO MORE KRYPTONITE! seriously the character has got such strong villains and a massive catalogue of story arcs (or, *gasp* come up with something original) that i think the old green rock allergy has been done to death. please leave it out of this one.

And please use a villian that has not seen the silver screen. COME ON WB WITH THE SUPER VILLIAN !!!! Superman actually has great super villians to battle much more dangerous and unique than Lex like the following: Brainiac, Metallo, Darksied, Mongul and the War Planet, Parasite, Bizzaro and Doomday.

Listen up WB

Doomsday...beat the hell out of Supes, kill the superbaby..leave Supes in ruins at the end of the movie...bring back vengeful, no care for anything even Earth just to beat and destroy Doomsday in 2nd one with lots of destruction, LOTS of it! Then, make him become a hero again with Lex at the end saying, "I had to bring you to your senses, this is my world to ruin, not yours" or something to that effect. Geezuz.

If they are rebooting the Franchise why bring Spacey back? Don’t get me wrong I like the guys acting and do think he would make a very good Lex, he just hasn’t gotten to play LEX yet. Donner Lex never sat right with me, I am a creature of the post crisis DC universe, the Lex nearest and dearest to my heart is not a dopey mildly threatening mad real estate developer/conman; LEX is an untouchable amoral industrialist genius with more money and terrestrial power than God. The Lex of the Superman and JLA/JLU universe made by Bruce Timm would be a wonderful way to portray LEX. To truly reboot this however, as much as I liked Spacey, and think he could do great justice to this more true version of modern comic Lex, I doubt that they would cast him for this if the character was going to change drastically from the previous film. That makes me quite sad. I fear this only means that though we may finally get to see Superman fight a super powered villain, we will only ever see Donner Lex on the big screen. It will take some fun out of the experience. Honestly, do you want Brainiac wasted on aidding Lex with a new way of owning ocean front property in Arizona…â€but there isn’t any oceâ€â€¦.WRONG!!! There will be when their through with it. Or do you want a Lex that wants the knowledge and power Brainiac has to provide so that he may become a living GOD. Donner Lex would want the former; the comic LEX would want the latter. (sigh)

I hated Brandon as Superman. Besides, why the hell are they bringing back Luthor? Does not make any sense. Stoopid. BTW, What about the reboot talk going on? These guys need to set their minds straight first, then talk about a movie.

Routh had his chance

That is what you get for following the director's love for wussy men. Kent in SR was a wuss. and so was Superman in that movie. Hell I believed I could have defeated him myself by kicking in his crotch.

No sequel
Commented By: Jesse on 2008-10-29 16:02:00
superman returns was an awful movie and you wanna make a sequel. Returns was suppose to be a follow up from the Donner films. But returns was just a copy cat of the first one. Sure it was a little different. But the plot of the movie was basically the same. It wasnt original. People want to see something new. Not something thats been done already.
