John Woo's Red Cliff is both the highest grossing and highest-budgeted film to come out of the Chinese film industry. It's a historical epic recounting China's 208 A.D. Battle of Red Cliffs and the subsequent fall of the Han Dynasty. based on the Chinese classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Red Cliff had some rocky production problems, but was rushed to completion as a way to boost China’s public image around Olympic time.
Now, we're hearing that Red Cliff will see an American release in select theaters on November 20th and VOD, Xbox Live, and Amazon release on October 22nd.

I didn't get a chance to catch World's Greatest Dad on VOD, but maybe a John Woo film will motivate me to pay some money into my cable box...
