With David Twohy's A Perfect Getaway coming out last weekend, the man has been press touring quite a bit, and - strangely - we've heard nothing from him about a Riddick movie. I've heard talk that Twohy has said that a new Riddick film "won't happen" on XM Radio last week, but can't find the audio anywhere.
That means that our Riddick news can only come from one man, the same man that revived the Fast & Furious franchise, will soon revive the xXx franchise and apparently also wants to resurrect and re-kill the Riddick franchise: Vin Diesel.
The man made a post on Facebook, of all places, updating everyone on the next chronicle of Riddick:
The Riddick discussion is about rating now… Though Hollywood likes their PG Ratings, the next chapter in the COR series was always envisioned as an R rating, like Pitch Black…
One Studio exec suggested doing both “The Underverse” and “The Furyan”, (working titles) at the same time, allowing us an R rating for the first and a PG rating for the second.
The good news- David Twohy’s script comes in next month.
Um - a-what? - an R rated Riddick movie followed by a PG rated Riddick movie. What would a PG Riddick movie even look like? It's title "The Furyan" sounds like a Riddick origin story, but PG is pretty limiting for a series that started with hard core sci-fi in the R rated Pitch Black.
I guess we'll know next month when the script(s) come in if a certain Vin is blowing smoke up our ass or not.
