War Machine action figure?

By George 'El Guapo' Roush on March 24, 2008

Film school rejects has a link to what appears to be an action figure for War Machine:

Images of a Wal-Mart Exclusive toy called “Iron Man - Stealth Operations” have recently started to appear on a few online outlets. To any fan of the comic, the resemblance to the War Machine armor is very clear. And with the casting of Terrence Howard as Jim Rhodes, perhaps we’ll get a glimpse of the real deal War Machine. In the comic books, Rhodes stepped in as War Machine, an Iron Man replacement, when Stark had to abandon the job for awhile.

War Machine later went on to have several of his own comic appearances and without a doubt looked bad-ass, often equipped to the teeth with more visible weapons than the traditional Iron Man costume.

So while these pics are no guarantee that we will get a War Machine in the new upcoming Iron Man flick, the packaging and the costume design seem to indicate that this release is definitely tied into the new upcoming flick and that the War Machine armor may appear at some time or another.

I'd say yes, it is War Machine. His armor usually has the shoulder mounted weapons like the Gatling Gun. Even old action figures of War Machine resemble this one.

But will War Machine make an appearance in Iron Man? I highly doubt it. For one, it's the first Iron Man and it's important to focus on him. Maybe the armor will be shown in the background. Even Favreau has said the marketing dept. is already designing suits for a sequel, so I'm sure War Machine will make an official appearance in the next installment.
