WonderCon 2009: Video Of The Star Trek Panel

WonderCon 2009: Video Of The Star Trek Panel I'm trying to decide which is higher up the anticipated geek ladder; Star Trek or Watchmen. It's gotta be Star Trek. The show has been around for over 40 years and the fanbase just continues to grow by leaps and bounds.

With J.J. Abrams' new take on the classic series, fans are curious as to how it will turn out. Will he remain faithful to the source material? Or will this be Starship Troopers with different outfits? I've seen about 20 minutes of the film already, so I'm hoping that they show new footage for this panel.

There's also supposed to be a special guest. My money is on Leonard Nimoy so we'll what unfolds! I like to update right as the panel is happening, so forgive the rambling. Actually, I ramble in every article, so nothing will be different...

They showed the new full trailer. It's the same thing we've already seen with some added shots. It looked pretty cool, but it's a trailer specializing in special effects and nothing more. It reminded me of some Michael Bay trailer where the characters took a back seat to the mindless action. Hopefully that isn't the case with the entire film.

Since my laptop has a battery life of about 14 minutes, I went ahead and just recorded the panel. Not all of it though, the wi-fi out here is horrible and it takes forever to load things up on YouTube, so there are multiple clips below. J.J. and the stars talk about the movie, A possible Cloverfield sequel and in one clip J.J. and Chris Pine do a little rap which was...odd.

Check out the clips below. I didn't record the entire panel, just parts. Sorry, there was no special guest star.

Go Star Trekkin' when you

panels look so boring to attend. I'd just hang out on the floor to watch weirdos.

Eh it depends if you are a fan of something or not. I had a whole lot of fun attending Comic-Con panels last year.
